Satyagraha

Frankly, I'm currently dismayed at the senseless PvP going on in those 'New Lands'. Gankers gaining so-called 'Honor points' for killing diggers in full Focus gear intent on creating temples for their communities. That isn't SoR, that's 'WoW with Trykers'.

So I've been thinking about how to de-rail that system. Fighting back is out of the question. For the first, it would debase me to the level of those PvP'ers I'm against. For the second, it would be against my stated IG hominist philosophy.

I got this idea: instead of fighting against getting killed, I'l let them kill me. Again and again and again. I'll run into the zone, find a nice visible spot and shout for them to kill me. Then I'll spawn, run in again, rise, repeat ad nauseam.

I'll offer them so easy so-called 'honor points' through my death that even the laziest PvP'er should be able to accumulate thousands of them with near no effort.

Why would I do such a crazy thing:

It would make the entire so-called 'honor points' system and the Stele of Valour ridiculous. You'd get so-called 'honor points' easier from me than XP from a Yubo, for the Yubo might actually fight back. I'll just sit there and yawn. You wouldn't even have to run aroound to find me, you'd just have to wait at my spawn spot and hit your uberl33t-sp311-0f-d00m button.

It would throw the so-called 'honor points' system out of balance. PvP'ers who farmed me for themselves, will have thousands of so-called 'honor points' for essentially doing nothing, while harvesters and crafters who actually did something for their communities would have far, far less.

It would be a simple and effective statement of both the Hominist cause and common Homin morality. For really, what would I have to loose? I gain no DP in that zone. TP'ing into the zone is free. I won't need to regenerate stats, as I just plan on getting killed a few thousand times. I'm very much thinking of cancelling my subscription anyway, so it would be no loss of game time to me. I might be able to have some nice chats on Guild channel (with interruptions for spawn and TP), and those downtimes from being killed I can always spend reading a good book or knitting.

So, anyone with me?

Its a very fine idea, but I can't reconcile it with my roleplaying, however much I agree OOC.

Not so much 'with you' as ahead of you. I walked around unarmed for a while last night. I didn't survive for many minutes on any of these journeys. I was even bravely assaulted by a group of eight twice (different groups). None of my assailants seemed to even pause to think at all, never mind learn anything.

I don't think I have the heart to try and prove a point by beating the system to give away free 'honour' points for nuking me down repeatedly. I'm just going to pretend episode 2 doesn't exist and go back to playing how I did before. Hopefully I'll get some of my interest for Ryzom/homins back.

Though about it some more, it is an terrible idea. Doing this is as bad as getting PvP forced unto us (disruptive of what we like), we have no right to disrupt what they like.

Use of the forum should be the place to voice concerns about the game, and actions in game should reflect roleplay and playing the game.

I am playing the game. This is a hominist action, showing others the senselessness of killing homins.

Tonight being the Samsara Pub Night, I'm forced to cut my protest short. I'd like though to thank Schizm, Tyilin, Kenshiro, Saranda, Orochi, Wildbull and Amana for helping me prove my point.

Make sure you turn on sound so you hear Nevrax's new Theme song for Ryzom  "Ganksters Paradise"

They been spending most their lives living in the gankster’s paradise
We keep spending most our lives living in the gankster’s paradise
Look at the situation, they got us facing
We can't live a normal life, raised by a faction
So we gotta be down with the team

Too much faction watching got me chasing dreams

I'm a educated fool with dappers on my mind
Got my amp in my hand and a gleam in my eye
I'm a loped out ganksta set trippin banger
And my homies is down so don’t arouse my anger ... fool
….
…
…
Tell me why are we so blind to see
That the ones we hurt are you and me.
They been spending most their lives living in the gankster’s paradise
We keep spending most our lives living in the gankster’s paradise

Power and the dapper, dapper and the power
Minute after minute, hour after hour
...

...

They say I've got to learn but nobody's here to teach me
If they can't understand it, how can they reach me

I guess they can't
I guess they won't
I guess they front
That's why I know my Ryzom is out of luck ... fool
They been spending most their lives living in the gankster’s paradise
We keep spending most our lives living in the gankster’s paradise

Tell me why are we so blind to see
That the ones we hurt are you and me.
Tell me why are we so blind to see
That the ones we hurt are you and me.

I agree with this entirely. What Nevrax has provided is not what I hoped for, but I certainly do not intend to ruin things for others.
