Another newbie to Ryzom

Hello, my character name is Chiros and I'm new to this game. I just started my "free" trial and if it continues to impress me like it did today I might shelf WoW for awhile.

Yes, you heard me - I play WoW. But one day all the cynical leet-talk and powerlevellers got on my nerves. So I decided to try something new, more beautiful, mature and different. And so far I like what I see. The few people I talked to (and who helped me out) actually knew how to speak english without over-abusing lol, thx, pwn and omg. Sure my character looked like a hobo at first, but even the worst, cheapest light armor looks better than my WoW characters ever did.

I'm just wondering... can a character manage without crafting or harvesting? Will I be alright by actually learning other aspects of the game before making my own things? Finding and marking areas for thousands of resources just seems too advanced for me at day one...

Enough bullcrap - I look forward to play this game, and maybe even continue after the trial has expired :) Oh, and a few friendly what-to-do-on-the-mainland-when-totally-noob tips are always welcome!

First of all welcome :D
And yes getting by without crafting is easy, infact most people dont craft their own stuff, theres alot of people who prefer crafting and digging and tend to make up for those who dont.
hope you enjoy ryzom, if you need any help questions or a chat /tell kye

Yeah it sure is possible! I'm one of those people that took my melee all the way to the top before even touching my harvesting properly, of course there are advantages and disadvantages to this tho ;)

PS welcome to the game :D

You have come at a good time homin... Atys is about to undergo a very eventful time. Get comfortable with the game, learn what you can... there will be plenty to do while hopefully you serve one side in their great cause.

As one newbie to the other : Welcome ...

I'm also a Wow player and the community here is so different and more mature that I even did not start WoW at all during the weekend ...

I so hate people who invite you to a duel and when you decline, you get "Loser", "Noob", "*sshole", "F*cker" and stuff like that ...

Welcome :)
