I don't understand. Are you upset about this change? They reduced the free trial to 7 days and made it $15 US to buy it, which is half of what it cost me a month ago. It's cheaper to play now.

Although I understand Nevrax decision, I have discussed these changes with a few players and a couple of concerns did arise: first, the game is not easy easy to grasp at the beginning, maybe a trial of only 7 days is a bit too "tight" and second, one of the "key" strenghts of Ryzom is the community, more mature and I'd say "older" than other games. To what extent is this due to the fact that the game required a credit card to play ? that was a question that someone mentioned as well

The credit card thing I think will be inconsequential. Annoying kids are good at getting mommy and daddy to swipe the card if they need it.

However, I actually thought extending it to a 1 month trial period would be a good way to go, not shortening it....

But what do we know? :p

I don't think a week to two weeks is unreasonable to get a feel for the game. However, I think before this change goes into effect, the welcomer's speech gets changed so that they encourage you to visit the mainland as soon as you get a feel for the first few missions. 2 hours, tops.

That would certainly help! There has to be tons of trialers who get fed up wth the island and quite possibly quit (because they don't read the forums)

3 weeks would be perfect. when i first started i played for 3 days on n008 island. then a person who was restarting the game, helped me out a LOT. since then iv been getting my mom to pay for me, since shes into gaming. so yes it's more mature, but younger kids play too :P (ok maybe 16 isn't THAT young :P ).

And how will we affect the outcome of episode 2? I always thought the RP was a little weak, noticed by my lack of doing missions

yea one week is a bit short, especially for dial-up users, by the time you download all the updates you'd have maybe a couple of days to play... not nearly enought time to test out the game.
