Hello, hello!

Greetings to all!

Just started playing a few days ago, and I must say, it's great. :)
Aside from the fact that I'm completely oblivious as to what I'm doing, or even how I'm doing anything, but... Experience comes with time, right?

I've played a lot of MMO's. City of Heroes, Ultima Online, Star Wars Galaxies, EVE Online, WoW, Ragnarok, Anarchy... The list goes on and on.
The only thing all these games have in common, is that I never got a feel for them. Or rather, they never attained a feel for me. Either way, I'll willingly admit that I suck at the genre as a whole. I lack patience, I suppose.

I work at EB Games, and for almost a year now, The Shadows of Ryzom has been staring me in the face. So I'll stick my hand in the barrel one last time and see what I get. :)

I haven't really met anyone in game yet. I don't think there are too many new players anymore. I'm quite sure the game has been discontinued for retail. I did buy the last copy that my store had. :S

Anyways, I apologize for long post. I just wanted to express my appreciation for a game that I should have purchased so long ago...

Thanks for reading. :)

Welcome to the community Justaram :D

Its a often discussed problem, that the starter islands are really quite. And you
start to feel alone there quick :( (Especially if you play one of the big blue ones.)

But try to get comfortable with the game controls, and game mechanics.
And when you feel comfortable, come over to the mainland.

Feel free to send me a /tell ingame, if you have some questions, where you believe I can answer them. Or ask a gamemaster or guide. You can see which GMs are online with /who gm .

Seeing you ingame

Welcome to the game, and that part where you see nobody could be because you are still on the starterisle?
Get to the mainlands and see what is happening there, rather good fun and lotsa people.

Welcome to Atys.

Hit HELP and do the tutorial to get a feel for the UI at least, everything else comes with experinece.
And I sent an application to EB-Gmes a good two month ago...
Heard nothing... :(
Maybe ´cause thei´re new to Germany. *shrug*
Well, more time to play Ryzom! :D

Welcome justaram!

Probably the single best thing about Ryzom IS the other players :) Have a quick look at this thread if you have a moment. The starter island can seem very quiet, mainly because once you leave it you can't go back. I am sure this will be modified in the future, but that's not the morale boost you need just now. Follow the Welcomer's guide and use the Help until you have the hang of the interface then come and join us on the mainland.

In fact, we are noticing that the numbers of new people are increasing right now. Take into account that currently;
there are four starter islands (one for each race)
and each of those has five towns
and that we have a truely international community (twenty-four timezones)
and the fact that we tend to give all new people the same advice on the forums (roughly; once you know how to run about and defend yourself, leave the starter island)
and that once you leave the starter island you can't go back there
and you'll see that the chances of you bumping into someone just like yourself are pretty small.

They aren't stopping selling the game. We've had a sticky patch, in regards to numbers of players, but we've ridden that out and Ryzom is growing again (with very big things in the pipeline). Maybe they're moving towards the download method rather than the shop boxes? Anyway, whatever the truth of that it doesn't alter your situation much. There are lots of us here (and at the moment the numbers are growing) so, once you have the basics, come and join the 99.999% of us on the mainland. I can guarantee you that, within a week, you'll have a whole list of people that you wish you had met on day one.
