The emotes

I'm not used to the emotes in Ryzom, the type where the people around you must be mindreaders to understand:
/hopeless = "<Character> has no hope."

Maybe they are okay, we homins can see it in eachothers eyes maybe...
But is it possible to write your own emotes, like World of Warcrafts "/em":
/em frowns = "<Character> frowns"

How do you emote? With *blinks* or any other way? I simply can't remember the prewritten emotes and looking through the list take some time...

I've seen some LOL'ers and :) 'ers, while I have no problems with that kind of expressions I find it a bit clumsy to use myself

Near as I can tell, what the word for it is in the list, is the same in the '/<whatever>'

list>bow and '/bow' do the same thing, and so do a fiew of the others. I don't use them that much, so I can't vouch for everthing.

Thanks all.
There are loads of emotes in the game. I need to print one of those lists cause I haven't got a clue what Exuberant and Perturbed means.

But what I really want is a way to make my custom emotes, and make them appear like regular pink coloured emotes. Guess it's not possible...

You could always send in a suggestion via the support channels for new emotes. know I've sent in tons.

I don't get why I keep seeing games that don't include a hug emote. And since not all emotes in Ryzom have animations, it shouldn't be difficult to add a simple text emote: "<Character> hugs <target>."

There's the possibility of harassment, for example, someone following people around and spamming the hug emote. But that's not really any worse than them doing the same thing with "<Character> excuses <target>. That was a loud one!"

Don't worry if you don't know a particular emote; my recommendation is that you explore them and learn the ones you really like. Forget about learning what everyone else is using. And I think it's unrealistic for anyone who isn't dangerously obsessed to learn all of the emotes.

Certain emotes are helpful, for example /exuberant is good to know because it is a nice response when someone asks you to dance, but nobody will really "expect" an emote response. Typing *does such-and-such* is fine, and your creativity will probably be more respected than an encyclopedic knowledge of arcane poses. Keep in mind that when people are swinging emotes around like crazy, it's likely they have been playing since the early betas and have had lots of time to learn them.

With that said, there is one emote you must know if you want to avoid ridicule and ostracism - that emote is /pacific.

Uhm....
Why so difficult, if the way is so easy?

We here in germany just do it this way:
(for example)
Acridiel says:*scratches his head* Don´t you think you´re a bit too near that Ocyx?

Lylaneasays:*over her shoulder* Ah, no I can handle it.

Ocyx: *prrrrrrrrrrrccchhhhhhhhhhh*

Lylanea says: *cough, cough* Hoooooot!!!! *slapping at her Armor*

and so on....

Just like we used to in the god ols days of Chatrooms! *wink*
*GRIN*
