I'm considering buying this game, but I want to make sure that there is a decent population on the english server before I do. I already suffered through low population problems in Shadowbane and AC2, and have no desire to do it again.

Couldn't tell you exactly.. but.. well you don't normally get far without running in to someone these days.

Just make sure you come over to mainland fast once you start playing.

check it out for two weeks, its more important how the population feels than the actual numbers
(meaning the size of the world has such a big effect)

As far as I know, the french server have the highest population.
And just so you know, when you start playing you have more or less chosen the server you play on.
CSR are not too happy about moveing you to another one, at least that was the case when I asked.

When you create your character, you'll be placed in a starting island for your race. This is an area that's isolated from the main player population and is strictly for you to get used to the game and get a few levels under your belt.

The starting island is likely to be pretty empty as it's only going to contain other brand new players that happen to be logged on when you are. On this island, you can't chat with players on the mainland except through direct tells, which just adds to the isolation.

Make sure and teleport to the mainland (it's a one-way trip) before your 14 days are up if you want to see what the regular day-to-day community will be like for you.

I just started the 14 day trial last night. I'll leave the newb island as soon as I figure out the basics.
