Bazaar rules?

It seems there has been a great deal of interest in the bazaar and questionable actions of several of the ryzom community. The bazaar is player run and thus, player enforced, so should we take it upon ourselves to create rules that we can follow? We could create a thread that could list the general rules to the bazaar. It would create a standard by which all the people who bid here would understand and adhere to.

Yes we should, but it should be optional weather the auctioneer applies these rules. They should make clear the rules at the start of the thread and of course add their own if they so wish.

But a set of standard community optional rules I agree with :)

I agree, how to enforce any rules tho could be a problem. To my mind a blacklist thread is the best action and the community then ignore crafted items on merchants, auctions, bids etc from those on the list. This only works if homins enforce it by refusing to buy or deal with those persons on said list.

One thing I would like to add and this is directed at absolutely nobody, its a general thing.........

ok a few auctions/events/threads have gone wrong and there does seem to be resentment about this but please lets learn from it and move on. It is doing no-one any good to keep bringing it up or for people to start flame wars. If the persons involved cant resolve their differences then so be it, ignore each other in game, whatever, but please let it go. I am completely neutral in this, I am not on anyones side and this is not about any one person, auction or thread.

In fact I blame the devs !!!! we need an invasion to unite the homins of Atys again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :P

My two pence worth anyway...

Everyone will have their own views as to what should be allowed or not, and a blacklist would never be accepted as gospel because of people's differing relationships and loyalties. Really, I doubt you could get the entire crafting community to agree on much for very long.

I also don't think there's anything wrong with how things are done right now. People develop their trade based on the experiences and ideas of others, taking the bits they like and leaving the rest. If there are any real rules to the bazaar, they will come about through common use (like some seem to have already) rather than through several people deciding what's best at the time.

Until such time there is an auction mechanism built into the game mechanics, there can be no enforcable standard on auctions. It's just stating the obvious that those who don't honor their auction bids are going to lose face to some degree with the community. But, as you are well aware, this community has already taken steps to police itself when individuals or guilds act outside of established community standards of behaviour.

I don't believe this is true. "policing" on the forums results in flame wars which result in no progress made. In-game the only region that can be policed is the PR and thats not resulted in anything more than an increase of PKing between guilds.

By posting this thread, I was hoping to obtain ideas for a post that could present "guidelines" for auctions here. Of course its up to the auction poster to choose what rules apply, but if we were to have a standard set of ideas as to what was acceptable, we could avoid some of the problems that have been arising recently
