How do I know what guild people are in??

aha easy 
press 'u' to bring up the config window then choose:
-Interface
--In Scene
---Friends
now put a check in Guild symbols and Guild Name, do the same for Enemies list.
There are other things to play around with here like color's for chat windows, character fading and so on.. but that would b off topic so u'll have to find urself -)
