The Four Dewdrop Jewels

Not long ago, I was invited to Avendale by four distinguished members of the Lakelands Merchants’ Guild. Always happy to visit the beautiful Tryker homeland, I ported there at my first available opportunity. Curious as to what business they wished to discuss, I joined them in their richly appointed offices. There, they asked if I would verify the craftsmanship of four pieces of jewelry that recently came into their possession - a diadem, a pendant, and a pair of rings. I was honored to assist.

They opened the small hardwood containers one by one, and by the light filtering in through the underwater portal I beheld a sight that took my breath away. Each piece was magnificent, with an amber of a type I have never seen on Atys. Each was of a slightly different shade of azure, pulsing with life from within, like the very waters that give life to the Lakelands. That they had some inherent powers was evident, but the precise nature of that power, and the details of the craftsmanship, was well beyond my ken. Gazing at these magnificent objects of art, I was a truly humbled jeweler. I apologized to the Chief Magistrate Merchant, as all I could tell her about these treasures was that they were priceless, stunning, and in all probability unique.

I went on to assure her that I would keep the knowledge of their existence in strict confidence, but she smiled and said there was no need. Satisfied that the Dewdrop Jewels were genuine artifacts, the Merchants’ Guild intended to show them publicly, with the hope that the intense yet tranquil beauty of the jewels might serve as an inspiration to homins of all lands.

I wished them well, and at their request I am posting this here. They have yet to announce when and where the first showing of the jewels will take place, but if you hear of a showing I encourage all to attend.

bright blessings,

. . . Keoni, jeweler.

Be careful homins, i have been told that these jewels have a mysterious power. Indeed they are beautifull, maybe too much ....

It is said that once a tryker lady of pure heart sets her sight on them, she will never be able to let them go. She would loose her mind after and won't be able to think about anything else.

So i must warm you of this before they ask you to look at them. I don't know what are the 'Lakelands merchants' intentions, but these jewels in devils hand could be desastrous.

Ps: Ma-Duk bless i'm not a tryker chickolita :D

I heard that the gems themselves are actually pieces of the old dragon's skin;
The very same legendary beast that is locked beneath the roots of Atys

I don't know what to make of it.

Never mind the jewels.

Did they also show you or sell you the patterns for them?

There are jewels out there, for example amongst the leaders of those primitives in Zoraï that far exceed in magical bonuses anything I can make of the same quality. I'd give all my worldly possession but my pick and my jewel tool for that pattern.

I had to bribe/pay quite a few firewine cups to loosen the tongue of that weird looking homin, after he asked me if I was interested in rumors....finally, he started to talk about the jewels...."ya heard about the four dewdrop jewels?" he asked. It was hard to make sense of what he was saying, for the firewine was doing its effects... but he mentiones something about knowledge and power of the jewels, made me curious... and then he fell asleep.

When I read this a shiver goes through my spine as it brings memories to my mind. Memories about what happened to another Homin that took upon herself to hold an amulet of unknown power whos origin we do not know of.
It brings the sad memories of the happens afterwards into my mind.

Deamla, where are you ?

I wish not to take your joy from you my friend, as you are a well renowed jewlerer across the entire Atys I am most certain that they are as beautiful as you describe them. But since we know nothing or very little of these amulets I plead to you to be careful and have a vigilant eye open.

My apologies if I have taken the mood down by this but I am very concerned about this matter of unknown amulets.

Be careful, Keoni!

Sometimes there are bandits and outlaws who roam in the Lakelands. I even heard a rumour of a theft of great wealth in Windermeer, while a lot of adventurers were looking the other way.
(But only a rumour so far, nothing has been confirmed so far...)

This reminds me of a tale an old Tryker told me in Thesos bar. He was quite drunken so i didnt pay to much attention.

He told me about a mysterioes set of jewels. Crafted in the old days. Where the diadem stands for Avendale, the pendant for Crytabell and the two rings for Fairhaven and Windermeer.

Also the rings where a symbol for the gates to enchanted island and fountain. While the pendant stands for the gate to winds of muse and the diadem for the gate to Loria.

He babbled something about a full set, but we both where drunken, therefore my memories are fading here...

Hmmm... That does indeed put a somber note on the information. We thought we were collecting them, for the light, weather it be for the light of Marduk, or the shine of Jena, but in the end, all we saw was the light glinting off of a Kitin shell.

I am still interested in hearing of these jewels, but must keep in mind, those who forget the past, are doomed to repeat it.
