hey, i am new to ryzom..and as first time on the game i am not at all sure of how to start. i have browsed the forums and have not found and guides what so ever. any feedback on this matter would be much appreciated.

huanghin, hello there and welcome to Ryzom. Here are a couple websites that are really good resources as well.
Ballistic Mystix
Ryzom Database
You'll find useful information about the different critters, materials and the different lands and regions of Atys as well as other useful info. If you are a harvester and would rather find some of the resource spots out on your on, then the sites might spoil that a little bit, but they don't have every mat spot marked on the map.
As mmatto suggested, I will second that and also suggest reading the player made guides, and the newcomer welcome board has some helpful information for new players too. Like norvic said, don't be shy if you have a question. Post it here on the forums or just ask away ingame. I might not always know the answer nor am I near as knowledgeable as some of the other players, but if you are see me in game and got a question, please don't hesitate to ask. Would be glad to help you out.
