Little tips to improve the chat system

Ok, now I've been playing Ryzom for only 14 days (yes, trial ended and now I'm a "real" Ryzom player) but what I still find hard to 'digest' is the chat system :-)

First of all, I think it would be very usefull to have a shortcut for the different chat mode.
IE, press key G and automatically Ryzom will type /guild<blank> in my default chat, press T and automatically Ryzom will type /team<blank>.

This way whenever I've to talk in team, I only have to type T followed by a message. Instead, what I have to do now is to:
- press enter
- press slash (which in my case it is ****F 7 so I've to press 2 keys--> italian keyboard)
- type team
- type blank
- type message
It takes forever :)
The same goes for guild and for region message

At least, please, introduce some shortcut like /te for team message, /gu for guild message and /re for region.

I know I can set the chat mode by clicking the little chat button which will set the chat mode to team/region/around/guild, but it is not very friendly to hit that button every time I've to change chat mode.
ATM when i'm in a team, I set the default chat mode to team; this way, every time I've to speak to someone not in my team, I end up typing the message 2 times because the 1st time I always forget I'm in team chat mode and I talk to team :-)

Also if I type /guid<blank><message> (note I miss a 'l' in the /guild) and then press enter, my message will be lost and I have to type it all again.
It would be usefull to have a little chat buffer that hold the last 3 or 4 message so that I can recall the last message and correct the /guid in /guild.

Last suggestion, is to introduce a new key bind to enter the chat. Instead of pressing enter, I'd like for example to press another key (custum key bind) so that it will open the chat by automatically type slash<blank>
This way, to type /guild I will have to only press the custom key followed by 'guild' ..at least I avoid to presse Enter and to type slash.

I know this is not something so urgent or so important to add to Ryzom; after all, a lot of players have managed to chat without problems till now but, at the same time, I think this are very little details that are easy to implement and that will help all the new players (like me) coming from other MMOG that are used to this way of chatting.

Thank you for your patience, and excuse me for the english errors I've surely done.

PS: I've been trying to play with macro in order to create a macro to enter team/guild/region chat mode, but the macro function "enter talk mode" seems not to do anything at all

Check this thread in the beginner section:

http://www.ryzom.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14616

Some slash command are listed in there. Also, if you go back to the beginner forum, check the thread on 'seeing posts older than 30 days' - most entries in that forum are hidden by default, because they are old.

And by the way, did you try /gu /te and /re? Because those are exactly the shortcuts you're looking for :)

Have fun

Try pressing CTRL and the up- and down-arrows... I believe the buffer is more than sufficient. Moving in the text is Shift and the left- and right-arrows, marking a block is CTRL+Shift and the left- and right-arrows.

Best to do a macro for that - if it works. If not, there's always the possibility to write a ticket, if you think that some function is buggy... By the way, I believe the "enter talk mode" macro function is not for entering the chat window. I didn't use macros very much, but isn't there a macro function to press a key?

these shortcuts are there and
"/say <message>" for around chat
"/sh <message>" for shout (also /shout)

use shift+arrow up/down
edit: hold down shift if you want to use home/end/left/right keys to edit your chat msg

if you hit shift + k it should bring up the Marco menu there you make marco's that will do varoius actions like

set key "g"
to enter talk mode "guild"

these should under the heading chat, but i'm not sure. hopeful someone can explain in more detail.

Wow, thx for answer :-)

Yesterday evening I've tried with SHIFT arrow to cicle through last message, but it doesn't work.
Maybe I've used down arrow insead of up arrow, will check tonight.

This is exactly what I've done, but it seems to me that "enter talk mode" doesn't do anything.

Also, about /gu /re /te shortcut, are you sure they work? I cant' believe I am so dumb I've mistyped all 3 shortcut, because I've tried them :-)
Will check again tonight

Thank you

i think it only works when you chat line is empty or have not edited prev. message yet. (not sure about that).

but to be sure you using right keys.. press "k" to open key config window and from there you should see group for "Edit Keys" (or something similar)
Make new keymapping if needed.
