Reboot my computer within a minute of entering game

The game eventually loads. I occasionally get the please wait icon. I did actually click on the greeter guy and get a response. But within a minute of being in game the game reboots my computer.
It happens every time.
I have an Athlon XP1700, Radeon 9000 64MB, 512MB DDR. Windows XP Pro.
The drivers are updated. I have tried it in Direct3D mode. I have tried it in OpenGlide mode. It still reboots within a minute.
Whats going on? How do I fix this?
Thanks,
Mal

PC reboots automatically when they encounter critical errors they can't resolved. And yes, I encoutnered this in the past with a older PC I was having and it's always around 6-8 min after gameplay.
My findings showed that it triggers when my Video Card got pass the safety temperature. For me, I got a workaround by opening up the chasis and blowing a fan directly at it. (it works).
Do check your event logs and system temperature for a start, you may find something constructive there.
Hope these helps.

Thanks for the reply. It cant be the video card. It happens too soon. The system could be fresh from a cold boot, just load the game and within a few seconds it reboots. I know my system isnt that good, but XP1700, Radeon 9000 64 and 512 DDR should at least run it.
Thanks,
Mal

If you didn't do that yet, try deactivating the pixel and vertex shaders in the Ryzom Configuration. As the Radeon 9000 doesn't have shader support, they might be the reason for your crashes.
Crashes?
Yes, crashes. I think your box crashes with a bluescreen and you have auto-reboot after a bluescreen on, so it reboots too quickly to let you see the BSoD

One question. Are you overclocking your cpu?
If so, this game requires an emminse amount of cpu useage. It could be that the overclocking is to high and the stress the game puts on it set at that speed get's your cpu over headed or overloaded and that's what is rebooting your system.

Hello,
Could you send an email to
mailto:?subject=&body=? From there, we can do a bit more intensive diagnostics and get to the root of the problem

I was able to get enter the game without a reboot. Only was in for a few minutes, but it seems more permanent.
I created a character not from the Trylock (spelling) area with less graphics and sound. It didnt force a reboot. I lowered the graphics settings and was then able load the trylock character without it rebooting.
Maybe I just need a better system.
Thanks for the help,
Mal

I am having a very similar problem--the exact scenario dpi209 describes, although I followed those directions and my computer still crashes and reboots.
Any other ideas? I'm sending an e-mail to customer support.

Automatic rebooting is almost always caused by temperature sensors on your motherboard saying it is too hot....or that your processor is getting to hot and starts processing incorrectly. This is a common problem with AMD as they often run near their specified limit. I use a xp2400 and I underclock it a bit (125 mhz instead of 133), my system has never been more stable and I run ryzom fine with 512ram and an fx5200. I underclocked it that much because I put quiet fans in my case also though....
