I'm not sure about the new guy, but John-Paul certainly did...
So Alegra, care to expand on your obviously-trying-to-get-a-rise thread for us? Compared to the giant posts made in the other threads, you're not really saying too much are you?
Bit pointless all this debate over morals, and people throwing threads like this in the mix doesn't achieve anything (sorry Alegra but whilst people are discussing, you're simply trying to get a confrontational response). Is anyone going to get organised soon, and take a force of people to sort this out?
I've read the huge posts in the other threads, which were very well written (hats off to the authors) and quite interesting, but there it stops. Some people need to realise that discussing moral issues of gameplay is meaningless - in the end, we see a discussion being held by 2 or 3 individuals, which some people kind of agree with. And what happens then? Everyone goes back to the game and continues what they were doing before they read the thread, as they were doing it before they read the thread.
Discussions on morals will never, ever affect the entire player population, nor even a large percentage of it. In fact, some players are completely oblivious to the fact that these morals are being discussed. Whilst the discussion can be fun for some people (glipe, gaspode, syne etc.), it will not reach a conclusion that everyone will agree on, or even come close. Discussing is fun, but it's much more fun when a conclusion is actually possible, and of value.
At the end of the day, whether you agree with a certain moral or rationale is wholly irrelevant, unless you're willing to do something about it. So, why don't people do something about it, gather a force and see if you can tackle the problem? Quit sitting around like a bunch of students doing a case study, and do something about it
If all you're going to do is discuss it here (and try to poke each other into arguments), you may as well discuss the correctness of the Earth's orbit around the Sun, and make recommendations if you think it needs changing. NASA (and Patrick Moore) would love to hear from you
