Hunting the elusive 'Noob'

Of late, while traversing the prime roots, I have - on occasion - been witness of victim to bands of rather eager hunters seeking some manner of new beast.

'The Noob'.

Why so many highly skilled hunters should seek out this beast so avidly I do not yet know, from the enthusiasm and zeal of the hunters - and their method of hunting - one can surmise a few things about the beast though.

1 - It must be a challenging beast to hunt and a glorious experience to kill. Why else would so many devote so much time to hunting such a creature?

2 - It must have bodyparts that are immensely valued by crafters.

3 - Perhaps it carries equipment of some description, much like the bandit leaders, of a quality higher and greater than that acheivable by our own crafters.

4 - It posesses homin-like intelligence and a shape-shifting capability. This is the only plausible explanation for the all-too-common occurance of bands of wandering Noob-hunters slaughtering innocent homin instead, be they travellling or harvesting.

5 - Noob's must be very hard to kill as the hunters will often slaughter the poor unfortunate homin they have mistaken for a Noob several times over.

In all my studies and wanderings of Atys I have yet to discover a genuine Noob and I fear the attrition and inconvenience to a great number of homin caused by overzealous Noob hunts far outweighs any reward possibly acheived from finding one.

I look forward to heared other learned homin's contributions to the ecology of this elusive beast and a solution to the drunken rampaging of over-enthusiastic Noob hunters in the prime roots.

I haven't seen this noob creature either, but I wonder if it may be related to the najab. From what I have heard of successful hunts the hunters become highly excited, shrieking and gibbering in wild language as if possessed. Are they are hallucinating or seeing visions, similar but rather more extreme in nature than those of the Zorai sages? This might explain why homin are sometimes mistaken for the noob; the hunters are still under the influence of their last kill. I'm sure that our own Matian scholars would love to have a specimen to research, or even a scrap of skin, but I have never seen any noob remains for sale at any price. Every bone, eye, hair and fleck of blood must be invaluable to the hunter. Finding a noob could possibly make you very wealthy, unless in finding one you then also discover just why they are never for sale.

Perhaps we are discounting the qualities of the noob-hunters in our efforts to solve the puzzle that is the noob.

We can tell by their unintelligible language that most of the noob-hunters are of sub-average intelligence.

Noob-hunters lack either the visual acuity or mental faculties to distinguish between homins and noobs.

Noob-hunters display tribal or pack like tendencies, forming roving bands that are loyal only to each other, and then only until hunger or politics destroys them from within. In this aspect, they are most similar to the filthy gibbai or the comical cutes.

I propose that since the only group to have ever claimed to have seen the noob is the noob-hunter, that perhaps the only place the noob can be found is in the deluded and feverish imaginings of the primitive noob-hunter.

I have heard the whiney Matis describe the gingos outsite the gates of Yrkanis as mighty noob-hunters. I'm sure these are scrawny beasts compaired to the gingo outside the northern gate of Zora.

I do not know this "prime roots" of which you speak. Perhaps you could show me this place search for the elusive noob and learn the habits of the noob-hunters.

hmmm, Me thinks that these hunter have gotten the geography of Atys a tad confused.

Im my wanderings i have heard about a place called "Noob Island" could it be that it is this elusive place the Noob hunter is in reality seeking?, the legends tells that this island is the place from where we all come and to where we all return. Could it be that the hunters is in reality seeking this place? and since The prime roots *do* have some womb like properties, the error might be explainable ?
