Daniel Miller, Executive Producer for the upcoming expansion "Ryzom Ring", has just published a new article about the Add-On.

In today's issue he talks about the tools available to you to edit and animate your own lands. The article further features a few interesting screenshots.

Good article with many important details and pics that tell much more than words. Is all this stuff planned to be in initial release? If yes, it will be much more complete than I hoped for. I would be very interested in reading article delving more deeply into compenent definion scripts.

Best luck for R2 development project as I would like to see success in schedule! (Well, that was a small lie, I would like to get those tools now :)

Nice article :) .

I'm glad they decided to allow scripting. I hope it will be the most complete it can to allow us the most crazy stuff. I would be even happier if Daniel Miller announce we can make our own maps and not use full templates already made :D .

It's really interesting to hear that these game instances are going to be housed on the main game servers, rather than somehow farming them out to the clients. I mean, depending on the availability of R2 (I coulda sworn i heard somewhere that it would not be a "expansion pack" to be purchased?), I imagine every joe and jane who plays the game will want to make thier own "Uber Kitin Layers of Hellish Doom Level". Which, I would imagine, would mean alot of random test instances running, and possibly test instances that will try to max out the RAID engine. Throw onto that the leet koder who just ready their VB for Dummies book the day before and therefore knows everything about scripting today; everything except how to proof their scripts.

heh.. fun stuff.. I'm really interested in reading a bit about the plan in place to house all the new content. And don't take this post as knocking R2 at all... I've been pretty excited about it since I first saw it mentioned. I'm just curious how it'll be handled. More and more, Ryzom seems like the MU* of mmorpgs, which is an awesome thing IMO.

The R2 tools I believe will be free to everyone currently subscribed.

However, there will be a limiting facter on every everage Jane and Joe making the raid map. I'm pretty sure they've stated somewhere that it will cost money to host maps. Play with creating them all you want, but pay to play them. So not everyone will be doing it.
