Ryzom

Hi there, Just downloaded the game and signed up for me and my wife.

While playing the game we keep getting this "Please Wait..." box that comes up with no explanation.... ( comes up after 5- 15 min of playing ) I am assuming that we have been disconnected by the icon in the box, it would be nice if it said that though instead of please wait.. like its loading or something.

Nevertheless, I did some searching on the forums and from what I understand so far , Ryzom uses several ports that could be blocked by a hardware firewall?

Now if it was just one computer I would be playing on behind the router then I could just forward the ports to it (if thats even the issue ) . But I cannot port forward the ports to two different computers ( me and my wifes computer ).

So is it impossible for two people to play behind a hardware firewall?

If not, then how do I set up the port forwarding or is that even the issue causing the Please Wait.. messages.

Is your router a Linksys by any chance? There are some sticky threads here regarding Linksys router issues. If you can play fine for a certain amount of time (and especially if that amount of time is consistent) the issue may well be with the router.

I think it's a problem where connections are closed by the router, as it thinks there is no activity.

In terms of port forwarding, I don't think you need to do this (in fact I'm almost sure you don't). You are creating the connections to the Ryzom server, and that process uses your MAC addresses (a unique number stored on your network cards). These addresses go out with the network packets to the Ryzom server, and come back with the same MAC address, hence they find their way after passing through your router.

Yes , it is a Linksys WRK54G. ( not using the wireless connection though )

Yeah , I was thinking it probably wouldnt be port forwarding since I was able to actually connect to the game and play for a while, but I thought it might use a specific port only once in a while which could have caused it to then halt the connection.

I am not sure if it is a consistent amount of time ( no stopwatch near by ) but I may time it soon if it keeps up. I setup port forwarding the ports to my wifes computer and am testing it to see if it works now without stopping. ( just to see if the port forwarding affects it )

I will do more searching to find the threads on linksys router issues.
