I've just started the game and when I load the game I get kicked to desktop... any ideas please? Thanks in advance!

You might want to post this in the "Technical Issues part of the Forums".
Also downloading Klients (live chat support available) would enable you to talk to GMs there and maybe they could help you figure out a solution .

*nods* Get Klients. A problem like that, with only those symptoms, is a little difficult to diagnose. What stage of loading does it get to? Do you get to the "CONNECTING..." screen before the character selection menu? Or is it just before you get into the game?
