Herbivore Drops

I feel that herbivore creatures do not drop enough mats.

Alright, they're less 'risky' to kill than predators but they do take longer to kill, having more hit points and better armour generally (Cuttlers notwithstanding).

With a healer you can farm high drop predators really easily, herbivores? Still slow.

Not everyone likes to dig and we already have a shortage of certain mats in the stores, most especially lining, which is only dropped by herbies and plants which both have low drop rates.

Herbivores take longer to kill, often DO have nasty special attacks and are the only ones to drop certain mats.

I think the herbivore/predator mat drops should be evened out.

This will mean...

* balance of effort/risk to reward for herbies and predators.
* More grind mats in the shops for those of us who can't stand digging.
* More realistic - herbivores (traditionally IRL) provided more materials for making things with, plus herbivores are generally bulkier.

Myself i think all Mobs should have incresed drops to better give those that dont havest a chance to make more dapper and those that do harvest something to spend more of there dapper on

I'm chiefly a harvester/crafter, and I stopped looking in the vendors for mats some time ago when it became clear that the only people who had the materials I wanted most were other harvesters, who kept such things to themselves much like I do. If the materials gathered from herbies were enough to complement harvester input like with the categories covered by the aggo range, there would be reason for crafters such as me to come back and buy materials of all kinds from the vendors again.

I agree. It's also worth noting that these mats are all fine and basic quality. Grinding is about all they're fit for, so they won't exactly hurt the balance.

I voted "yes", because some herbivores are MUCH harder to kill that aggros (someone ever tried a shalah ? eats 3 varynxes at once), and that some aggros are definitely too easy to kill to be worth 10 mats loots (ie: ocyxes).

So, we're pretty much agreed that it's a good idea then? :)

I also find that you get more "there is nothing to quarter" messages with herbs as well compared to carnivores. I can chain kill 100 herbs and not even get enough mats to make an armour. The same time spent harvesting would produce many many units of armour. Very unbalanced imo

one of the early patches reduced herbi drops vs aggro drops, in the theory that there were more herbis than aggros. Unfortunately, people farm aggros much more than they do herbis. I have been on one or two timari or madakam hunts, but my usual prey is Ocyx, torbaks, and now jugulas.

Herbivores we have now just dont give enough xp to be worth hunting at high levels... we need something like lvl 260 herbis :D , then we might start seeing them on the shelves
