Ok, first off is a Poll about the current AoEs, especially the bomb effect. It seems that quite a lot of people think the current bomb is useless, in order to determine the full extent of that, please answer the poll above.

(once i've added it)
Next is a discussion about what would have to be changed. Nevrax laid the rules on the table in the latest Q&A, so effect based on range from target is out of the window and won't be back, ever. So please don't waste your time and our time by bringing that up. Please try to detail why you think bomb is not useful, what would need to be improved or how it could be changed. Numbers and detailed explanations are very welcome.
Once the topic is "ripe" I'll forward the results to the CM.

right, i voted for severly limited but after i pressed the button had another thought. It may be that AoE's are fine but they do not suit the way people play, let me explain.
Team 1: Healer caring for 2/3 tanks
bomb is pretty useful in this situation its generally possible to use to good effect with hp and stam bombs and topup dbl missile heals when a tank is hit by one or more special attacks.
Team 2: Heal caring for 2 ele's
utterly useless, ele mages drain sap and hp much faster than a diffused AoE can replenish so healer needs to use dbl missiles with no bomb etc.
my thought is with a slight application of tactics/good team play Team 2 would work with a bomb. If the mages used high time credits and/or single missiles then it would be much much easier for a healer to bomb them effectively. The problem i suppose is that everyone wants to use their most uber attack in a team situation so it's unlikely to happen ingame..

I would say mostly useless outside events.
I have been always better off using varying lvl missile type healing spells as I can cast those much faster and thus respond quickly to mob special attacks and missile spells are much cheaper. But then, I am quite fast targeter. Sometimes bit too fast
During mass events odd bomb heals are somewhat useful as they may help neighboring team in dire straits.
Offensive AoE spells... Well, maybe disrupting enemy casters during PvP or something. Or killing much lower lvl NPC patrols/bandits for kill tasks. Or vampirising yobos.

IMO one use of heal bomb - for C.Guardian show off on events - healing for 10k.
Well, out of team, it can be useful helping for low lvl's players.
What doing bomb in Off. Magic tree?
Use of it [using off. spells], i found only in 50is zone to kill ragus/yubos spawn.
I assume, bomb can be useful, but in particular situations, not for "wide use".

The only time i have found bomb spells useful is in events and i think heal bombs are pretty useful then (especially if you are a crap targeter like me)tbh havent played much with spray or ricochet so i cant comment on those

I use heal bombs regularly, but only HP and not for anything important.
Basically it's just the last thing cast before another mob is pulled, to top off everyone's HP we used to heal up properly after the last mob....
Well, that and to cast into large masses of people at events when I can't tell what's going on

I don't use bomb anymore here, because spells using a bomb stanza are not booster by the amps, thus:
-takes longer to cast
-much less effective than a double missile
-costs some SP to get, even though this is no big deal at high level, it sure is at level 50.
-costs some extra credit to cast
I believe I talk for everybody when I say that we don't want the old overpowered double bomb from open beta where one healer would keep a full team alive.
But I believe I talk for most of us (see the poll's results) when I say that bomb as it is nowadays is of no use in a hunting team.

are you absolutely sure that bomb spells are unaffected by magic amplifiers?

There were a few bug reports in french forums and a few players made several tests. they concluded that the secondary targets do not get the power bonus. I tested several months ago and it was indeed the case. I haven't tested it in a while, but yes, unless fixed recently, secondary targets are not boosted, as far as I recall
