"silver platters filled with Irish food"?? Chips and stew? Colcannon, kedgeree and champ? I'm from Ireland and I'm really interested as to what we could possibly have to serve on a silver platter? Mussels? Guinness? Ulster Fry? Bubble and squeak? A boxty or two? We don't really have a chips-and-dip heritage!

Kedgeree? Irish?

It's a hot, ish, breakfast dish that was popular during the Raj! Unless I'm very much mistaken Garam Masala isn't native to ireland :P

Ehm.. Yeah, I have to admit, that it was like more of the "Germans THINK this must be irish" variety of food. *LOL* As in every foreign restaurant in Every foreign Country all over the World.
Lawrence was fooled, as were so many who havent been to Ireland and rested in B&Bs and got to eat in Pubs, by the Menue being in english.
Good trick though. :D
It was pretty "normal" food. Even fish´n chips but as of I saw none of the above. Sadly...

But it was good eating and the Party was FUN nevertheless!!!!

Kedgeree is Anglo-Indian dish, the origins of which have been placed at the feet of one the celtic regiments (Scottish or Irish, both claim they were the first) combining the local curry with smoked fish. I must admit, I was grasping for dishes at this point but that only re-enforces the point of how hard it is to think of a suitable food for snacking on from ireland (except for the chip).
