I have an Alienware Auroa AMD 3500 system
RealTek AC'97 sound card
Periodically, I'm getting a recurring Bee-Boop Bee-Boop Bee-boop, from my sound card the sound continues until i log out or zone. Anyone have any ideas.
Thanks,
Andy

You could try to lower hardware acceleration from Windows audio settings. No idea if that helps

Try enabling or disabling EAX from the ingame options. I periodically used to get sound probs and this seems to at least give a temp fix, in my case at least. (do this when not doing anything else in game as it locks up for a little while as it changes the settings)
I also found that having winamp agent running in the system tray was causing problems, havent a clue why but I would often lose musical sounds completely, sound effects still worked tho. Disabling agent cured it.
Finally I rolled back my drivers (nforce2 for me) to an earlier version and now I dont get any problems at all with sounds or music.

Thats interesting snake.
I wondered if it was winamp doing that. I also have it playing in the background.
Another way to get around it was to disable/reenable the DD output.
Maybe it's time I used another mp3 player.

I don't like to tout MS software, but Media Player is free, does a half-decent job with the media library, and generally uses less than 5% CPU.

interesting problem. well first off do you have the latest drivers from realtek? you might want to call alienware support to find out if you do or not. new drivers is always the first thing to try with a sound related issue.
The realtek cards albeit underpowered ive found do what they need to quite well actually. otherwise alienware wouldnt use them. they make great machines, their support guys in my experience are actually pretty good.
if youre out of warranty or something and have trouble finding the latest drivers just let me know and ill help you find them.
also in winamp, are you using wave output, directsound, or MAD? If you are using wave or mad, that could be the problem. But unlikely if you used winamp in the past and this is a new issue that just kind of started.
let me know if you need any help ill be glad to help you out =)
