The emotes off of the right click popup menu seem awkward to use. Is there any way to just type in an emote? Something like:
/me stares off into the distance
Any way to just type in an emote?
Re: Any way to just type in an emote?
In any chant window type /emotename
i.e. /dance
i.e. /dance
Re: Any way to just type in an emote?
ah, that's good to know. thanks
Re: Any way to just type in an emote?
In many case the emote says something different if you have a player targeted.
/dance with no target says yourname gets this party started
/dance with a target selected says yourname extends hand, would targetname like to dance (or something to that effect).

Re: Any way to just type in an emote?
So tell me, how do you "untarget" the chat window after you have been chatting?
Having key commands unmodified (typing "m" for map instead of control-m, for instance) is a pain. If I don't have the chat window active and start typing thinking I'm chatting, windows pop up and down rapidly and leave my desktop a mess. If I target chat then get aggroed by a ragus or four, I'm toast trying to find the right icons to click.
I'm embarrased to say I've been clicking on the Windows button, clicking and unclicking the Chat checkbox to close and reopen the chat window.

Either hit enter or escape. You can set which you want in the config menu.hastings wrote:So tell me, how do you "untarget" the chat window after you have been chatting?

Re: Any way to just type in an emote?
Just so you know, you can toggle the chat window (show/hide) with the x key. Press K for a list of all the keys.hastings wrote:I'm embarrased to say I've been clicking on the Windows button, clicking and unclicking the Chat checkbox to close and reopen the chat window.
Re: Any way to just type in an emote?
Yeah, but the toggle x or k keys don't work if you don't know how to untarget the chat window... I can't tell you how many times i've typed a 5 into the chat field trying to increased damage hit a targeted ragusgralen wrote:Just so you know, you can toggle the chat window (show/hide) with the x key. Thanks for the esc or enter key tip -- it's probably in the manual somewhere which I swear I've read a few times and still missed.
Re: Any way to just type in an emote?
esc will allow you to leave the chat window but will not erase what you have allready typed. i like that it does the since it means i wont have to retype what iw as going to say. i still have times when i forget to hit enter first. all i do id retype what i was trying to write (again without hitting enter) and it usually fixes the window setup.
i can't tell you how many times i have accidentally popped up my keymapping window when trying to give a quick response.
