Store mat crafting nerfed in patch?

I noticed that after the patch I am getting about 1/5th the amount of experience that I used to when crafting with store materials. Instead of getting around 550xp for crafting a medium vest with q25 mats, I am now getting around 80xp (without changing any levels in my armor crafting).

Was this nerf necessary, and why wasn't it included in the patch notes?

Hello,
I'm currently not aware of any sort of nerf in regard to store-bought materials. Have you tried relogging since you ran into this particular problem?

I personally had no noticable change in crafting xp after the patch. Did you try watching your experience bar to see how much it moved? Might just be showing the wrong numbers but still giving the right xp.

DT: Level 74 in medium armor crafting.

I was using the "armor crafting 8" skill to level with Q25 mats; I would get more exp for crafting if I was using a higher crafting skill (but with a much higher chance of degrades). Apparently this has been removed?

It's a little complicated.

First, this wasn't actually caused by the patch, but by a certain reboot shortly after the patch. I was crafting before & after and at once noticed the change.

Second, there was a certain mechanism, which allowed crafters to be able to use storemats for a lot longer then usual. Past lvl 50 you got MORE exp for making a q10 item with your q60 skill (out of q10 mats, basically getting a degraded q10 item) than you would get from making it with the q10 skill. Twice as much, to be exact. Note that this only was the case for q60 or higher skills - this didn't happen at q50 or lower.

Most likely this was an loophole/exploit. I must admit I never really thought about it, since it was there sfor ages according to my guildmates and, well, it was convenient ;)
It seems they fixed that now by increasing the exp reduction for degraded items - now you get less exp for a q60 skill made degraded q10 than for a perfect q10 made with the q10 skill.

This is likely also effecting q24/5 items made with "normal" crafting, since items made with those are always degraded, since there is no q25 crafting skill.

Did you recently level up before/after the patch?
EXP is tied mostly to the number of mats needed to make the item, and also it seems to the QL of the item crafted in the appropriate levels (QL5, QL10, QL20, ...).

In regards to shrike's post, seems like hopefully they fixed that. I never used it myself because, well, it was cheesy. Crafting isn't all that difficult and getting exp as long as you know what you're doing isn't hard at all.
