I was told I was getting less xp than my team mates because I was using madness.Personally I've never heard about it have you?

I have not noticed, but I have been using madness in rather low level battles. This does not correlate with my findings even during current melee attack bug. Only case I know is that you don't hit with your madness spell which happens sometimes, but then you won't get xp at all.

EDIT: Sometimes I have got no xp when soloing Psykoplas in fleeting garden with madness. Go figure.

Never has happend to me and I just hit Off. Aff. yesterday 250, only thing that has happend to me alot it tells you that you are link but in reality you are not.

I have been sticking to Blind due to it, I get 2200 +/- 500 while everyone else in my party gets 3k when I use madness.

I used to use madness a lot (I haven't since a couple of patches) and I've never noticed such behaviour if I remember correctly. There were times when due to a bug, another team member would get the xp, or a long time ago, I would get close combat xp accoutning for the damage the mob did to itself (but this was fixed a long time ago). TO be honest, I'm kinda against the idea (the prupose of madness is that the mob hits himsemf... the the more successful I am, the less XP I get?..in the (unlikely) case I manage to kill a mob solo using madness, am I going to get 0 xp then?

What is the logical behind this? it seems a bug to me, maybe?

Usually I have got normal xp when soloing with madness. No xp 1 or 2 times may have been because I have not lost single hp/sap during entire fight. Used only range credit and plant did not hit me at all, maybe did not even attack me. In fact, I did not see any message about mob dying or getting xp (I tried to look for in case I missed it, but coulnd't find message).

It goes off how many times you hit with madness. I've been leveling OA recently and did notice it. If i hit only once, I'd get 2400 xp, hitting twice gave around 2700 and 3 times i'd get 3k. Blind, Root, and the others all gave 3k if I just hit once. Also using madness and then hitting with any of the others would give 3k, even if madness only hit once.

Since its only on madness, I'm thinking its a bug. There's no reason to have it based off hitting... it just encourages spamming the spell rather than attempting to obtain a link.

so because the target is doing some of the damage.. the xp calculations include it as a teammate for dividing up xp for you ?

Actually, something struck me here... The mobs that Laurie was having XP issues with are the exact same ones that I was having difficulties with. Possibly this is only limited to plants? (since some other people have some xp issues with them?) If its not plants in general, then it seems that the Cratcha have issues with the Madness Spells and the resulting XP.
