All the ryzom vids ive seen seem to suffer from a pretty terrible framerate.
Does anyone have a blazing fast system? I have a 1.8 ghz amx xp with a 6800 and i get like alot better than I see in the videos?
is therea performance hit because of frap?
would a faster processor not make the framerate better?
I like the vids, but it looks kinda gay when the heal/fire spell is only 5 frames, instead of the 90 or so it should be

Jup, you´ve got it allmost right.
I´ve got the same System and 1 G RAM, and it IS Fraps that slows the Performance down, once it´s activated. Sadly...
Wehre you´ve got say 20 fr/ps without actively recording, you get 5 once you start recording..

Hate it.
Ok, you CAN increase the Framerate with VirtualDub, but if your´re not carefull you get "High-speed" Effects...
I´m allready raking my brain for a sollution to that problem myself...
Other than buying an even faster CPU an still MORE RAM.

One big limitation in video capture is actually writing the data out to the hard drive. Even at a really low computer resolution like 800X600, capturing a high frame rate generates more data at a higher rate than the hard drives in our PCs can handle, something on the order of 20MB per second of raw data.

I dumped down on the framerate because otherwise, i would have huge files. Don't worry, i dont play with the same fps in the actual game

Does anyone have two processors, or one of them dual core things, running fraps on run, maybe having two harddrives, think that would solve all these issues? Im just guessing that ryzom could only run on one core/processor at a time
