Keyboard configuration

The thing is that I always prefer to move my character with WASD and not the arrows. It's just easier with all the hotkeys around them. Anyways. I tried to look for an option to change the inputs, but didn't find anything, not ingame or in the launcher options. Is there a file or something that I can edit to change it?

You need to bring up the keys menu, which I think is 'k' or shift+'k'.

Note though, that using wasd to move will get a lot of situation where you see this in the chat window:

'asdaaaaaaawsssaawwwsd'

;)

I was looking to do the same thing, using the arrow keys just aren't an option as you have to cross one hand across the keyboard to reach them. Might be good if you're a left handed mouse user but for the majority of people it is not.

They should make it so wasd are the defaults.

This is a discussion held before, it is decided the arrow keys for a few reasons though. Likely these are:
- everyone understands arrow keys
- not all keyboards are qwerty
- It can be an incentive to change your keys to your own liking.

I hope this helps.

In Other Games both wasd and arrows are enabled for movement by default. This is intuitive for all and should work well in Ryzom too.

Dvorak keyboard users are able to remap wasd to dvorak equivalents. They are less than 5% minority anyways.

Having to remap to get defacto movement keys does not give good first impression to a new player.

When you move using wasd, your hands are in perfect position to other useful keys (e.g. numbers) and your right hand is free for mouse. Remember that you have to use mouse for certain actions.
