Someone mentioned somewhere, I can't remember, maybe on mmorpg.com, that if you have surround sound system to play this game on, it totally rocks. Can anyone confirm?

Also, I think one of the low critique from a lot of pple is that the sounds for SoR is not quite as shiney as the graphic/support etc. Do you agree or disagree?

Personally, I like how each civ capital city has a unique and very powerful theme, and outside of the city there're only nature sounds.

What I would like to hear more, however, is more ambient sound. There are some, such as the mobs noise and falling rains and thunder, and they're quite good, but I think a bit more would totally help the immersion, such as howling winds, crickets chirping, birds cheeping, leaves rustling etc.

What say YOU?

The surround sound is equisite.

There's nothing like knowing the torbak is running up behind you and slightly to the right, because you can hear it there....

I personally love the sounds in this game. I suppose there could be a little more wind and leaf rustling, but there are other ambient sound effects that sometimes I just sit and listen as much as I sit and look at the environment. Like the trees creaking in the forest..... or whatever the thing is over the cliff at Fleeting Garden Karavan TP that makes thunderous stomping noises far below. That thing has to be huge, we're talking ultrasaurus huge. I find myself staring down into the mist all the time, knowing darn well I won't see anything. But listening....

;)

You really should get a chance to try surround sound out.

It's a little weird when you hit the "look backwards" key because the sounds suddenly shift. (Yes, the rear changes to the front speakers because you're looking that way) I love that it does that, but it just seems a bit abrupt sometimes, it should do a quick fade.

And I can't help but think the rumbling over the cliff is the great dragon of the myths.... (Or maybe just it's baby? )

Hmmm, mebbe this is a great incentive for me to put aside some saving for one.

Hey! Can I come over and try yours out? (j/k)

Fyrx if you kiss my feet ill get you surround sound
the sounds rock, the reason the original(release date) reviews were so bad is cause there was no music ever, and the last days of beta sound was disabled for a bit
but all of that was corrected and theres music everywhere that I think there needs to be
mwahahaha

it's not surround sound, it's positional audio

a bit of a difference, btw we use positional audio to hear not surround sound

and if you have a half decent soundcard, you can use headphones and you will can hear it. you do hear it with two speakers it's just kinda hard when the speakers are in front of you and basically beside you

if you want the "ghetto" way to get the positional audio to work here's how

get speaker cable untangled from all the cables in the back of your computer
find something to place the speakers on, perferably ear lvl when you're sitting down
place speakers on either side of your ears
enjoy the game and your new positional audio
