On newbe island, what is a 'good' level to start hunting Kitens? My Matis is 21/fight, 21/magic, 17/harvest and 16/crafting.

You could get off the island now... go to mainland and hunt bigger game. You're probably ready.

You could probably kill Kipee (variety of Kitins which exists on the newbie islands) now. Go find some Weeny Kipee and try it.

I would suggest accumulating at least 100,000 dappers (currency) before leaving the island, though. Dappers are very easy to accumulate by quartering all of your kills and selling the quarterings to the NPC merchants. You'll need that money for buying the far better armor and equipment which is available on the mainland.

This is what I was told as well, though it is easier to go to the next island now or whenever you feel comfortable doing so and earn the dappers then. Dappers come easier and quicker on the mainlands. This is just my opinion though.

That works too I suppose. I brought my Fyros character to the mainland earlier than my other characters though, with only 30,000 dappers, and she is still progressing slower. Then again, another factor might have caused that.

Get some heavy armor for fight and maybe a healer and try a kippe. worst that could happen is you die and get some dp.

Also here is my lvls when I left the island if this helps
Tryker: 27 melee, 20 in lvl magic, harvest, and in craft.

Also, Kipee are resistant to spells like Acid Damage...you get a message that "Weeny Kipee is immune to this kind of magic." If I remember correctly. So probably best to use melee...

Best spell against Kipees is cold damage. Slashing weapons are good too but Kipees are quite resistant to smashing weapons like mace.

With good equipment you can start fighting Kipees earlier even solo. Remember to test out increased damage and accurate attack special attacks to boost your effectiviness.

Armor availability, especially heavy, is weak in most starter islands as they require lots of skill points to get plans for complete suit and heavy armor requires skill level 20 to get any plan at all. If you are lucky, you can find armor there but if not, that should not be too big problem.

Teaming is a good way to start taking out Kipees.

Remamber one important thing Kipiees use Stun special attack so u might get stuck in middle of fight and thats why u should team with healer.
And in this place I would like to add my 2 dappers: I remember my early days and how either in game and on forums were hot discussion "when to leave noob-land", some were saying to leave early others wait till lev 40-50....
From my personal view I think that though noob island might be find boring each new-commer should spend there it's time till amount of xp that comes from single killing the highest mob (think at Matis island would it be Kipiee or Gingo) is lower than 1,5k....this should give everyone solid training before leaving to mainland....of course now it's much easier to start at main land with Guilds help but I see a lot of ppl with the lack of basic game mechanics knowledge and totaly unprepared for Atysian life (I'm not talking about free-trialers).

This is the main thing. You will be told a wide range of levels when you should/could leave. The best thing to honestly do is leave once you feel you understand the game mechanics well enough be it lvl 15, lvl 20, or even lvl 40.
