Heh, same problem with me when I first started. I hate them gingos.

What you will need to do is to level up a bit on the Yubos (rat like creatures) and also earn a bit of money to get yourself a better set of armors, especially heavy armor. They'll help.

There are some beginner guides here, besure to reset the filter to show all.

What Fyrx said.

Also could find a healer to team with and do it that the level you're at now. Everything is easier in team.

Welcome to Ryzom!

A key thing that will help is buying a new weapon. The damage that you do in Ryzom is primarily controlled by your weapon. You do more damage by increasing your strength level, thus allowing you to use higher levels weapons.

When you first start, you can use up to a Q20 weapon. This is handy as this is the highest level for good crafting mats on the starting island so people tend to craft a bunch of Q20 stuff and put it on the vendors.

Visit the melee weapon merchant. There are two of them. One sells one-handed weapons and the other sells two-handed weapons and amps. I'd suggest looking for a two-handed weapon (pike, sword, etc.) that is named something like:

Choice Pike of Damage

This tells you it was made of good quality mats and that its highest stat is damage.

Try a sword instead of knife. also heavy armor helps for melee and healers are always a good idea.

First of all, Welcome to Ryzom!

Second, step away from the gingo!

Stick to Yubo's and the birds (Izam's, Yber's, Igara's etc, depending on which land you are in). They are non-aggro and non-social.

I'd stay on the Beginner Island until all the skills you want to advance are lvl 20 or so.

Make sure you loot everything you kill and sell the mats to vendors for dappers, then buy yourself better weapons and armor. Keep in mind that npc armor and weapons are junk. You want player made stuff.

If you have other questions or need help with stuff please feel free to send me a /tell in game by typing "/tell Saranda hello!" (without the " ") and I'll help ya out best I can. :)

Best of luck to ya!

Don't forget to visit your fight trainer after every 5 levels you gain in melee, and buy up all the 'red drops' (constitution, metabolism). Always save 20 skill points from each 5 melee levels for those. They increase your hit points (constitution) and your hit point regeneration rate (metabolism).

If you're training magic, buy up the green drops, intelligence and wisdom, every chance you get, and before you spend magic skill points on any other stanza.

Welcome to Rzyom and the world of Atys olias. Everyone has suggested allt he good stuff all ready so I won't bore you with repetative jargin. Just wanted to say hi and welcome.

I do recommend coming to the mainland asap as you get around lvl 20 and feel comfortable with the combat and skill system because you will have access to better equipment and more people to hunt and play with.

One thing also watch out for herd animals like Capryni,...remind me of a cross between a moose and a horse with no antlers. Although I don't think they aggro on the noob island, herd animals like Capryni, Bodoc, Armas and Rendors are social on the mainland when you attack them.....so always draw one away from the herd otherwise you might be fighting off several mobs. Goaris are also aggro on the noob island and are as tough as gingos if not tougher so stay away from those till you get some levels under your belt and some better equipment.

Look forward to seeing you on the main land there.

I'm new too, and really lost and frustrated right now. I don't know if it's just me, but the tutorials are really terrible. :( My first gripe is--the whole "skill point" thing when you want to train until to a new skill. WHERE do I find it in my myriad information windows? It's probably something obvious, but I cannot find it. It really irritates me to go out doing something forever, and then come back and have the trainer tell me I only have 10 skill points for all that work! At least if I know "out in the field," I can gauge better.

Then deciding on actions and which ones to take. I'm trying to do foraging, but the explanations aren't worth much. I think I just wasted a bunch of skill points on useless stuff, especially since I'm using them and can't figure out what they do.

Secondly, I was getting so frustrated with the "tutorial" area that I teleported and now I'm in Zora now, and there's no one here. No. One. And I have very poor skills, and I can't figure out now how one would train them up. Do trainers cost money? Where can I find someone to help me out?

I'm thinking about starting over again and redoing my character and training to level 20 before I leave the beginning place again. But it still doesn't fix the fact that I don't understand how the skill points work, nor how to pick out my next skills!

--Arakknya, in game

Edit: I restarted and I get the Skill Points--you get 10 after you level up. I think it's one of those things that's so simple, everyone knows it, so they don't bother to put it in the tutorial. Unless it was there and I'm just silly and not finding it. Also, I'm not as frustrated. I'm out killin mektaubs and javings. Mwahahaha.
