Hello all,

I have resubscribed to Ryzom because so many people seem to like it, and I did not have enough time to give it a chance before. However, the more I play MMoRPGs the more I realize that the one thing I like to do is be a part of the world and have an impact on it. Can I do that in Ryzom?

Please do not post trying to convince me that my way of playing is somehow not valid, I am just trying to find out how much impact players can have on the world of Atys (I.e can player activity change anything?).

thanks,
Matt

you can effect the players on Atys by your actions, but currently the world itself will always pretty much stay the same

you can change the way on atys by just doing the vents atm, sell stuff at merchants people need to build up an economie, etc

also offc you can dig in Prime roots, the supreme and excl people need and influence the market again etc.

there is alot more but cant think of them yet since im to tired :p

as far as I know, the only thing you can affect in the game world is how depleted an area is from diggin, and how the Kami feels about it.

Of course you can affect the actual players interaction and players market, but I don't think that's what you mean.

We all have petition to the dev for more "affect the game world" type of gameplay, and I think that in the future we will. It is one of David C's vision in his Philosophy of Ryzom.

Comon David, build your vision! We are all waiting :D

You can also kill monsters to affect their spawns...

such as boss mobs, if you kill one, its takes a while for it to respawn... and mob groups usually need all of theones in the spawn killed for them to respawn..... errr, nevermind, I gotta run.

i think he means stuff like carving your name on a tree, leaving a permanent mark, or perhaps having control of a certain area that you can call your "own" which might be possible when outposts are implemented... (appartments and GH dont count since it doesnt really effect Atys)

Nope. You are just an ant in a huge world. Ur dust.
You can't chop a forest and make that place to become a desert. You can't wipe out a whole race of mobs by killing their boss. Your actions have no impact on the world. You can affect players, but players are a different story.
You have absolutelly no impact in the world, no matter what other players say. Your fame does not affect a thing (well, only the market prices), your share of killing affect nothing as long the mobs are spawning again, your harvesting are not depleting the resources permanently, your crafted items are bought only by players, your magic is only help in combat. So NO impact at all.

Through an event the homins uncovered a new portal between the Burning Desert (Fyros) and Witherings (Zorai).
So there are changes...

A player made change would have been not to open to that portal :)
