Tikets need a whole revamp anyways, we all know this

For teleportation we need a simple GW like interface.

Click on that tele point on the map and it charges you on the spot to warp

Tickets are stupid, stupid idea.

I know that this is by no means a new idea, so therrrrs no excuse

Explain to me how you actually teleport? The idea behind tickets is that you visit an alter. The Kami or Karavan then give you something (the ticket) that allows you to tune into that alter and teleport to it. As Homins lack the ability to teleport themselves and lack long distance communication how would your system work?

The way this has been presented before, and what I believe the poster may have had in mind, is that once you visit a teleporter once and speak to the NPC there, they "stamp" your book. That then allows you to teleport back to that location at any time for a fee that would be charged at the time of the teleport.

Based on the previous system, this change made sense to me.

It could be that the developers have a solid and good reason for making it less convenient to have lots of tickets (although I don't see it). If they do have a really good reason for the change, then the above system wouldn't make sense to them. In that case, I'd hope they would shed some light on their reasons for making travel less convenient.

RP reasons:
- Karavan and Kami being afraid we get too powerfull?
- It is a war against the Kitin, Homins travelling all over uses up a lot of resources.

My main preferred reason:
- Convenient is boring. I dont like boring, I like a challange and also noticing myself accepting ticketbulk already.... Anything to keep the mind going actually, if convient gets too common, I might as well watch tv (Cast away or Saving Private Ryan both come to mind for some reason).

In fact, any reason could do. The current ticket situation is a choosen path, live with it, I very much doubt it will change more then a ticket tab...

Interesting way of putting that. The other thing to keep in mind is that teleporters currently only pull things to them. Meaning you don't go to a teleporter to go anywhere, instead you go to them. When the Ryzom Ring is introduced they will be used to go to the instances that players create.

When you right click on the map, theres a Teleport option but greyed out.

You know, I actually like the teleport system. (And then i am not talking about the bulk of the tickets)

Yes you can hear me shout and grumble when i forgot to buy a ticket. (what? buy two of them? I still have that problem, because then i forget it twice ;)

But it gives me something fun to do. Sneak through Winds of Muse or to Thesos to get the ticket again. Or gather a group and fight your way through.

Sure it is much more easy to just 'click & go' but its much more boring too...

/Agree - must be my slight tendency to self-inflicted pain and sufferi.. eh nm

No world is perfect by any means... "even Atys is not"

But I do agree that the management of tickets could be vastly improved

I'm mostly in agreement with this. There are areas where some degree of complexity and/or inconvenience makes sense. There are others where it should just be simple and hassle-free, for the sake of playability and stress-reduction. This seems to me like an area they can and should shift to the latter category.

As suggested by others, have some sort of passport "stamped" when you reach a teleport point (even one that is currently, for whatever reason, inactive). Then just charge a set fee when you want to tp back to a location, if that tp is currently active. Whatever mechanism they're going to use, it should be something that is seperate from your bag inventory, because having to forage through a bunch of tickets in your bag (which they don't even bother to stamp with some sort of destination text on the icon, like an airport three-letter code perhaps), is just goofy.

As a related aside, I recall a quote from Sid Meier, perhaps the greatest computer game designer of all time: "A good game is a series of interesting decisions. The decisions must be both frequent and meaningful." That's the test I apply to game design aspects, and the current method of handling teleportation comes up wanting.
