post-patch crafting...

I've just had a rather... interesting... experience, in my first attempt to craft after the patch. Wthout giving my results up front and prejudicing the experiment - have you all noticed any signifcant shift in the nature of your crafting successes? If so, please let me know if they're better or worse in terms of success %, fail %, and the spread of quality of partial successes... along with what % success you're crafting at...

The gist of this is, I think they changed the crafting algorithm, perhaps unknowingly, but significantly... But first I'd like to hear from a wider statistical sampling, before coming to premature conclusions.

I think it has been adjusted in quite many patches without notifying. Especially regarding crafting over your natural quality.

I will do some grinding and pay better attention. I did notice more then one degrade at exact the same lvl as two before that. Three degrades in a row, all ending up at the same lvl.

But will let you know if a fail will *finally* count as a miscraft. Some of the ranges for succes% are simply borked...

Untestet but theory:

crafting was always connected to bulk. If you bulk was full (lotsof erarings or bullets for ranged) your rate dropped significant.

patch 71 brought new bulksize. So maybe...

We should not post here about :D DEV is reading ;)

I don't know about bulk but for weight this is true. You will notice this especially when crafting ammo. When weight approaches your limit, your actual skill lvl in everything drops gradually quite fast. Press 'a' to see actual changes.

And there lies the answer to why I failed to make a ql140 helm on a lvl 168 crafting skill (I shouldn't really be getting degrades at -38 skill, should I?)

max % you can get for crafting isnt 100% so there is always a chance of degrade im afraid even if you craft 100 lvls below your skill but i have to say i didnt notice any diff when crafting above my lvl lastnight had 4 degrades trying to make 150q swords they came out 147 149 68 and 106q no real diff there than b4 my sword crafting skill is 112 so 38 lvl above my skill i was attempting

hmmmm, we have a randomizer now, dont we?
if we assume this is the same one, how about we do some statistics with it? I would like all who care to take 20. Please post in the technical support forums.

Yer, but prior to the patch, I would craft with minimal bulk, with a new tool and mats way above the ql of the crafted item.

Fails - yep there is always a chance for a fail.

Degrades (which we don't have a IG indicator for) are less frequent with the above conditions.

I was in no way saying that since the patch the degrade rate and fail rate has increased.... I was just commenting on the fact that I got a degrade, when I didn't expect it.... and having a bag bulk of 270 (at the time) explains to me why this degrade should have been expected by myself :D

hmm ive never had any problems with bulk affecting my crafting only problems ive had is if i forgot to take a piece of heavy armour off as that will cause your max crafting lvl to drop in an even wierder way you can wear full heavy armour craft something and get the message saying you crafted to the lvl of the materials but it clearly isnt and the only cause i can find is the heavy armour not my inv bulk
