Rites... right?

Ok, for those of you who dont know what the flip rites are, I'm in the same boat.
From what I've gathered they are like glorified misisons... that require sub-missions to complete them.
I dont understand what makes them important, other than I get an amber cube, and more stuff in my Encyclopedia. I have only done the Fyros Melee weapon crafting one... where I learned all the patterns for fyros melee weapons, and i got the NPC Axe plan.
What are the long-term benefits of rites?
What do they do for me, other than something to occupy my time and skill points?
Are the rites in Zorai, Matis, and Tryker better than the Fyros one?
How many of them are there?
Who do I talk to in each place? (ie... matis, zorai...) And wehre can i find them?
Are they worth doing?
Can anyone provide me with some information?
Is there a website that has them mapped out to save me loads of time running around looking for that specific NPC? (is that cheating?
