Crafting, mats, and weird results

I'm so pissed cause nothing I craft makes any sense.

So like I was making an axe and I put this supreme something grip that looked pretty good, but was only like 50-60 for speed, and when I added it speed dropped to like 40s. I switched it for a fine bawaab skin, which looks like a terrible mat but speed is like 70-80s, and everything went up so much, its so weird.

Is there any knowledge on how crafting works. Everyone I talked to just says trial and error. I love the new rites weapons, alot easier to just buy the mats from all races in order to grind.

You were lucky and found a surprise combo that gives better results than stats would suggest otherwise.

I found when I make an sword and use suprmeme shells, all other mats choice I don't get as good stats as wehn I use only choice mats...

Oshido should be on shortly... he and others have done a lot of work trying to ferrett out the inner workings of the craft system. We've seen what you are talking about. Adding a mat and getting results you didn't expect. Mats that don't display as having a stat but effecting it.

Oshido had mentioned things that make sense (averages, weights, limits). When we think that we got a lock a formula we find something that sends it into another direction. I should listen to him more when he explains it to me... might help with my medium armor and pike crafting :)

We are still collecting stats for quartered mats and we put their stats up on the web site as soon as we get them. All harvested mats are already there.

The "something" is important. Anette fiber is horrible for speed. Supreme anette is worse than fine bawaab skin in that regards.

craft stats go up to 120% actually, choice highest stat is 100% or something and excellent highest stat around 110% and supreme highest stat around 120%.. because of this when using excellent or supreme, the scale changes to 0%-120% (converted to 0-100) instead of the normal 0%-100%, which causes stats from mats lower than excellent to be weak..
(yes, the 0-120% is converted to 0-100%, you won't get 120% amps and stuff, lol)

That seems weird... two different scales...

We've been using a 0-60 scale for displaying stats (something about the number of pixels used to display each stat) and we've been converting the 0-60 scale to an 0-100 scale for the formula work. 30/60=50/100=60/120
But I never noticed excellent and above acting differently.

most of ryzoms formulas are simple...
im thinking that maybe basic/fine/choice/supreme change some other factors,

im pretty sure it adds up the visible stats of what you put into the system, but then divides it by a factor, which i thought was simply the number of mats used in the item, but i think it varies based on fineness of those items

i like kaetemis theory/knowledge/law thing, i think my idea is the same thing from a differnt perspective, hers is easier to understand i think
