Don't feed the resellers

At least a couple resellers active right now - Munkie and Mudd selling high jewelry marked up from player prices.

Technically, this doesn't hurt me at all, I get my dapper from the sale. It does hurt the players that have limited funds. I want my jewels to be available at my prices or lower, not my prices or higher.

So I want to encourage players to buy from merchandise from the crafters which will help your fellow players. If the resellers aren't making sales, then lower priced merchandise will stay in stock. If you buy from the resellers, they will keep buying out the lower price merchandise and marking it up. Pass the word along in guild / region if you want also.

So, now you all can debate free market etc. My opinion is they add no value and aren't entitled to basicallys steal dapper from players.

Feel free to e-mail me and post here if you find other resellers or if you find out who the PCs are behind these guys, since they may be alts.

Haddo,

You're doing a lot to help the community by providing a fairly hard to get item at reasonable prices, and I'd like to thank you for that.

When I buy any items off the vendors, I always check to see that the seller's name matches the crafter's name. If those two names don't match, I don't buy the item.

There's really no way to prevent the resellers from turning a profit on items in high demand, except to leave the npc vendors out of it and deal directly with in game brokers (or guild leaders) that you trust to carry out your own mission - which is to provide fairly priced affordable jewelry to the community as a whole.

That said, since you've asked publically for help identifying resellers, I'll spread the word in game and I'll keep an eye on it myself when I can.

I'll keep a look out for you.

I've got a number of your full sets, and would like to see them on the Sellers at your reasonable prices. I looked a few days ago in Fryos, and you're name is all over them atm.

Congrats on reaching 250 m8, me only fear is now, you get bored and stop your supply :)

Keep up the good work!

Good post Haddo. I always check for reselling when I buy stuff, especially jewels. It's also easy if you are buying from someone you know to be a famous jewel crafter, lol.
:-)

Congrats on 250, and thanks for making your jewels available!

Haddo, i really like your jewels... but dou know what a free market is? Look at the real world... how many manufacturers sell directly to the users? (very few)... there are always distributers, who will take the product to different places, mark it up, and sell it to retailers, who mark it up and sell it to the final consumer. (no value added... other than availability i guess). So if someone wants to buy you jewels, make an investment, and hope to sell high, to get a god return... more power to them. Its a gamble to do trade like this, as many people like me try to buy from the crafter (for best price purposes)... but when there is a high demand, ie... i need jewels now, and you dont have any available... i will pay more for the convience of haveing them now... not later. (so i guess the added value if any is availability and convienence.) I know the ryzom market is not near as complex as in RL... but I think that the option for people to buy low, and sell high makes the game yet even more interesting and unique. You will make the same money regardless... so you shouldnt care. Besides... dapper is in actuality pretty useless.. hehe :) Thats all i have to say. Please correct me if I am wrong. :)

Plain and simple it is a dis-service to the community to do this(reselling at a markup). What value add is someone providing to buy in Dyron and sell right back in Dyron? Seems a bit greedy to me if Dapper truley has no value. I guess you would prefer then if Haddo just decided to stop selling on the market due to this?

P.S. Dapper is beginning to have value because people are actually selling mats at reasonable prices if you look around. Crafters can buy mats instead of having to dig them themselves, thus creating a more robust economy.

What you have to realize is Haddo is both manufacturer and distributor by choice. The game lacks contracts and such to prevent abuse of course so you can only depend on someone's moral view on the matter. He wants to sell his items at an affordable price, he's doing a service to the community and here are these jackholes that want to ruin that.

Also these names sound like alts, either that or they're very new. If they are alts why are the PCs hiding behind them if they think what they're doing isn't wrong? If they're new then they're just leaching off the community and not giving anything back; who wants em?

Edit: My main point is if you're reselling items for a crafter who doesn't care that's one thing. But if the man himself is asking you to stop you should have the decency to listen.

LOL.... did you read my article? The added value isnt always there. I said if there was any it could be availability and conviencence. Not everyone is always in Dyron or Thesos when they need jewels. And thesre isnt always jewels available when you want them... this shows a demand.

Greedy.... why do you level any skill? You want to be better. Why do you sell anything? You want dapper to buy new things, to support your skills. No its not greedy in my opinion, its just another facet of the game.

Also, if haddo decides not to sell becase of this, then more power to him. There are other crafters as high as him, and many in the ranks learning fast. But i dont think he is like that. Haddo's a nice guy... why would you let someone elses actions controll what you do?

I'd also like to mention, that I have not yet bought and resold anything... but i do not look down on it. Competition drives Economy. I personally am looking for the best price... which is almost always from the crafter, but if what i want is being sold by a reseller, and I need it... i'll buy it.

Dis-service? IF YOU DONT WANT TO SUPPORT RESELLERS DONT BUY FROM THEM. It really doent hurt anyone... the buyer is responsible for his/her actions... he/she doesnt have to buy anything. :)

When I say that dapper is getting useless, is because its very easy to get. I know many people who have more than they can use... by millions. They give it away and help others... and like you said buy mats... rather than continually increasing inflation... i think we should make dapper harder to get... then the value of what you can buy skyrockets... and dapper becomes like GOLD.

Lets all just have fun.. .not be so critical of others :)

Good post Haddo.

It is my opinion and view that if you want to get into reselling a crafter's wares that you approach and discuss this with the crafter, working out some sort of spoken agreement. If the crafter says, no, that he or she isn't interested, then walk away and search out someone else.

It is common courteousy to do this. Personally I'm to busy digging and rezzing people or going on explorations and treks, but if it is your thing to be a second party merchant, have the courteousy to ask the crafter's permission and abide by their wishes.

I agree. It is a good idea to discuss it with the crafter. Curteousy is always good. Good point.
