Question to community about mats storage...

I have been recently schooled through ingame e-mail by one player about storing mats on the merchant in full stacks and marked up 3000-5000%.
Reason for me doing so is that when I buy out looted mats from merchant I only have packers at 2 towns and is much easier to keep them at the merchant for period of time till I need them. Mats I keep ate full stacks and marked with high price so people do not make mistake and buy them off.
As I can see lot's of people post even few pieces of mats on merchants at sky high prices and remember from the past that the developers are not going to address slots issue with GH when the space went up to 10,000 and even a post from developers(or GM not sure if remember correctly) that storing mats on merchant is not an abuse I would like to get this clarified.

I am not storing for possibility of a sale again, and not even sold a single stack of looted mats I had on the merchant.

What is the latest opinion on this, since I do not read these boards much, and never was notified by guide or GM about abusing game rules or CoC.

Hey Obiwan.

I don't think the devs and GMs ever put out a definite statement about this, but I do know a lot of players don't like it at all.

Here's a fun thread to read :)

You can scroll thru grim's silly stuff for the actual real comments by other players.

They have, officially using merchants as storage is a-ok.

Some players are against this, some are not.
We could start an ethical/moral discussion on it, but I fear there would never be an agreement on anything.

ah, thankee, magick.

Point me to where they did give official statement on it? I would like for this to be settled once and for all in ma head.

Hey, even the silly stuff makes a point!

And I've heard the opposite, that it's not 'OK', just not being enforced at the moment. I'm hoping the shop rules will be changed to make a difference.

1/2 of the markup as interest i say :0)

mark it up 100%, pay 50% as interest to pull it off the vendor.

mark it up 5000%....pay 2500% interest to pull it off the vendor.

merchant wants his money for the services he provided you to display your item on sale! and he is GOING to get his cut. :0P

In my view, if players use the merchants for storage it's a non-issue. I use them for that on rare occasion, but not often. As far as I can tell, the only way it affects player B, if player A has mats stored on the vendor, is that it makes it harder for B to find things he wants to buy.

But restrain your search with price filters, and all the items that are set to storage prices disappear - so what's the fuss? What remain annoying are the already-sold, 0 quantity items that clutter the lists, and unfortunately there isn't a filter for quantity (devs: nudge nudge, wink wink, say no more...)

The fuss is...

* Sometimes you forget to reset your filter and you buy ridiculously priced stuff.
* It clutters up the shops and the database for the shop with stuff that isn't intended to be sold. Which probably helps account for the slow shop inventory load time.
* Packers were prevented from being anywhere storage to prevent just this sort of thing happening. This is an exploit of the shops that cuts around that block, running counter to the intent.

Bad.

Please don't do it.

Stop trying to get work arounds. Keep posting the devs to do their job & let us use the facilities we have to the maximum potential.
While your at it, get the devs to allow selected friends to access our flats so we can have 'raves' without the guards being involved.

Hmmm, I dont like this one. What if I place an item at the stores and decide to lower the price later in the week? That will cost me more then I will make a profit, while still normal practise in a free market economy.
