how large is todays patch and can we download without the client?

Subject pretty much says it all... how large is todays patch, and for those with slower connections at home can we download the patch from a fast internet connection without having the client installed (i.e. a .exe file). If we can't download from a location other than where we have the client installed, is there any hope of having this feature added?
