Ryzom

well, I haven't seen anything posted in the official forums since I last asked about it, so whether it popped up somewhere frequented by enough of the players is beside the point since I don't know how to find it. this is the only real hub I know of for Ryzom.

is there a gallery for a wide enough range of equipment in the game? I want to know how to pick between what different weapon types to pick to craft. I don't really have a lot of craft skill points to spend yet. most serious crafters do what... buy level 1 of every crafting plan to see what it looks like?

why hasn't someone made one if there isn't one?

what's the best way to go about taking pictures? I mean what's the best lighting situation and such? is toggling "(L)atern" mode on sufficient? I know for example that natural lighting tends to actually vary in some places. Prime Roots gives off an odd hue which changes the magenta-colored Zorai tribe boss armor with yellow highlights into violet with green highlights. and what background would be best? oh well, I guess anyone with the most basic education in art can figure it out.

could we get armor pictures on different body-types (races, I guess might differ the most? after gender, that is) and different ANGLES? I noticed the gallery I was sent to, and one I found since then, neither show the gloves properly, and get this, apparantly there is more than one appearance for gloves. I saw a Fyros one that had a circular metal plate on the back of the hand. I'm not sure how many different types there are in total. if light and medium both look the same for every race, or medium and heavy, or what...

oh, and in case anyone is wondering, or thinking of answering with a webpage that might not be very good resolution or not show all the varieties... this is what I have bookmarked already...

There is no gallery of craft items though - but I personally look at an items stats rather what it looks like.

A gallery of items would be quite nice though

We (Ballistic Mystix) are currently working on a comprehensive armor gallery. We're starting with Tryker armor and will work our way out from there. We should have Tryker done later today and I'll post a thread with the link to it.

But to get back to the original question of why there isn't a comprehensive gallery, let's consider armor....

4 armor types (light/caster/medium/heavy)
3 grades (basic/medium/high)
8 colors (beige/purple/green/turquoise/blue/red/black/white)
2 sexes (do i have to spell this out?)
4 races (tryker/zorai/fyros/matis)

4*3*2*8*4 = 768 individual pictures

That's 768 pictures for ONE angle on ONE avatar. If you want to do front/back, that's 1536 pictures. If you want to do front/back on each of the 4 races, that's 6144 images.

And, if you're curious, that's 29952 mats.

It's not impossible by any means, but it's certainly a daunting task to make a truly comprehensive set of images, as we at BM have discovered. We are taking a shot at it and should have something to show for it soon.

it might be sufficient just to show 1 shot of every item - otherwise you'll spend more time making a database about the game than playing it !

Although this does seem to be already the case with you ballistixs !
