PvP = Fun?

Killing other players is a hot issue, as one of the longest active threads on this forum shows. So now I would like to see where the average opinion is.
I personally am against any PvP, so you will find my vote at the very bottom of the available choices. This is also why I am rather concerned about the upcoming of the Outposts. A lot of people seem convinced the Outposts will be just something to fight for/ over. If that will come true, Ryzom will probably lose a lot of its appeal fir me. There are already people around, talking about 'wars' and 'enemies' when speaking of other guilds. Does the Hominkind on Atys really not have enough problems without waging wars among themselves?
Currently the PvP is very limited, yet it still causes quite a bit of argument. I often see people state the argument that by going to a PvP area, like Prime Roots, you accept that you can be killed and have no right to complain about it when you do. I don't see this argument as valid though. Because there is a difference between *implicit*acceptance of the possibility of getting attacked and *explicit* agreement to fight other people.
With implicit agreement I don't really expect to get attacked, in spite of the possibility that I might be. I actually expect that other people will NOT attack me. When they do I would certainly like to know why, so that I might be able to avoid it in the future. That is why a completely random attack is so upsetting. Besides, Atys is a dangerous enough world as it is, why do we need to make it even more dangerous ourselves?
It is different with explicit agreement. That one is given when one accepts a Duel or goes to a place like Arena, where one generally doesn't go for any other reason than fight. If I get killed under such conditions, there really is no reason for me to whine about it.
I am not trying to tell anyone how they should play, I know my opinion is in the extreme and don't expect many people to share it. What I do expect is one or the other of the people who happen to like PvP to come here and defend their right to have their way of fun. Everyone should be allowed to enjoy the game in their own way, but if someone can't have his fun while those said PvP'ers are around, who is to decide whose fun is more important? If you will only find it fun if you kill me, and if my fun will end by it, who should have his way? Does this have to be such an extreme opposition?
The issue is hot, so the flames are likely to burn high in this thread as well. But maybe we will be lucky and see some actual opinions and reasoning here as well.

(Yes, this is my in-game name for whoever would feel the need to put me on his kill- or other kind of lists. If you do though, I would appreciate that you state your game name here as well, and if possible the reason for putting my name there.)
