The Battle of the Box

My name is Jyudas, a member of The Samsara, a mercenary guild operating out of the great desert city of Pyr in Imperial Dunes. We have a reputation for our greed and our rapacious appetite for money, women and drink. It’s a reputation we like to uphold.

Sometimes, however, the cause is just, the enemy an obscenity and - don’t tell anyone this - the money is somehow less important. That’s when the heroic, dutiful and honourable blood of our Fyros ancestors gets the better of us, to our shame.

One such event was a recent battle, far off in the horribly damp but delightfully tropical beaches and lakes of Tryker. We Fyros have always had a soft spot for the Tryker, despite their wicked Karavan ways and there was once an alliance between our peoples. So, looking for opportunity, some dapper and some scantily clad Tryker women frolicking in the water we decided to respond when we heard a call had gone up from the Tryker council.

As it transpired, as we were sat on the boards of Loria’s Rise, pausing only to smack hecklers up-side the head with my burning stavon sword, we were told of a great wrong that had been done. An artefact of the Tryker, Loria’s Box, had been stolen from its guardians. We were told the tale of how the original box had found its way into Tryker hands from the Matis people (typical that Tryker should reverence something they ‘just happened’ to have from someone else) and some of the history of the Tryker people, showing us why this box was important to them.

Then they told us who had taken it.

The Twins!

Perhaps you, reading this note are not aware of The Twins, I shall explain. The twins are an embodiment, if not of pure evil then at least of pure annoyance. They try to enslave good homin, they partake in evil rituals in service of their Mistress, Desann and they have plagued these lands so long as I have taken up arms as a mercenary. They have given me plenty of work for which I am grateful but they are a force that must be opposed and destroyed.

At the behest of the Tryker our forces assembled, a great host of the guilds of Atys all in one place creating an unstoppable army that moved out of Fairhaven and ran, swam and rode to where we had heard The Twins had set up a fortified camp. Cresting the ride we found this to be no lie, a huge army of the dispossessed, the bandits and the disaffected of all the lands of Atys lay in opposition to our great army.

We fell upon them.

My sword cleaved and struck and burned, magick flew about me, searing the enemies’ flesh from their bones. Again and again we struck and fought until my sword arm was tired and nothing was left of the enemy but corpses, a feast for the Igara.

The box was found, the day was saved and, praise be to Ma-Duk, the enemy had money upon their corpses so I did a good deed and was also paid.

Who knows what other mischief The Twins shall get up to in the coming days? Me, and my purse, shall be ready.

We are in the RP forum. But i would like to add something. All of those who are calling for features and never or seldom attend to events have missed the real big feature of Ryzom. The RAID-engine. This sweet little piece of software does not only control those NPC zombies, the mob patrols or the next spawn.
