Item Quality

This is a question which ... still... has my head hurting. Other than the look of items (and a marginal insrease in item HP... which is nowhere near proportional for the additional mats involved) has anyone found any benefit from medium or high quality items over their basic counterparts?

I'm not saying... a supreme amp compared to a basic / fine amp.

I'm talking about the plan you actually use to craft the item.

As an amp crafter and jungle digger, I have a plan that gets me 83's across the board with either zun or pha with basic or medium-quality amps (using jungle excel amber) but with the high-quality amp yields only 80's across the board... for more mats. Talking with the guild armor crafter and weapon crafter it seems to be the same story there. Other than having a much cooler looking weapon / armor we've yet to find a benefit and in some cases there is an actual detriment. Yes, there is the status symbol behind saying "I have HQ supreme X" as compared to "basic supreme X" ... but is that all? I always assume I'm missing something somewhere along the line... something that can justify the 100% incrase in amber from basic-Q to high-Q amps... am i? If anyone can address this... I'd much appreciate it.

Thanks for your time and efforts,
See you all in game,

why work soooo hard, spending months in preparation in making great amps, and then only to degrade your efforts in making lower ql amps/weapons/armours than you are capable of. i`m proud when i see someone holding a weapon of mine, i don`t think i would be as proud, seeing someone a basic ql sword ql xxx but thats just me.

btw, basic ql amps easier to craft with high stats, atleast 16 combinations of +++ 96/96 amps, maybee thats a reason

Not that i've seen. Usually the stats are exactly the same, once the extra mats are taken into account.

But i'm no expert crafter.

Two benefits, or maybe one and a half. The higher quality items have more hitpoints, and so will last longer. And, they use more mats, so you can level faster when you grind.

faster, as in less clicks, yes.... but it's the same XP per mat.

Two comments:

* As mentioned before, HQ items have more HP

* With the increased number of mats, the number of combinations increases. There are a few formulas that cannot be exactly reproduced with basic or med quality items. The stats do not change *a lot* but it can be noticed. e.g in a pike with 11/11/11, you find a formula with e.g. 7+4 points. I have personally witnessed slight changes in stats when the same formula is reproduced with a basic or med qual item, even when the stats pre-craft are the same.

I only use them for grinding or for looks. Since nobody cares really how amps look and sup zun is hard to come by I use a basic plan as well now these days. The hitpoints are only marginal higher. Not proportional to the number of mats used.

When it comes to armours and fashion....

I quote the fashion queen of Atys, Chi

'Go basic power'

Right.

I can't tell you how much I wish they had higher quality jewelry. At two mats per earring leveling is soooo slooooow!
