Please have some events that don't have a time...
To give you an idea of what I would consider a perfect event, I will go back to my first MMO, Earth and Beyond.
In Earth and Beyond the storyline involved a group called the Ancients. You learned that the Ancients where the ones who created the first star gate that humans found. Now what they did with EnB is created coded fragments and put them all over the place. The events was for players to find all of the fragments, decode them, and find out what they said. The end result was a very cool set of journals written by the ancients that talked about the creation of the first gate. This was a perfect event. It had no time limit or set time, players found the fragments at the pace they set. It required EVERYONE to work together. As there was so many the only way to succeed was for the players to compare what they had found. It required brains, not brawn simply because they were incoded and the code needed to be broken. It centered around the story and give a really awesome piece of a very complex puzzle. It was perfect.
After the event last night I am begging the people at Nevrax and the event people to do something like that. While I appreciate the event last night I have to be honest and say that I felt like cattle in a herd. Please come up with an event that involves the use of the mind, not just manpower.

i would like to see more events like in december with the kitins, that take a few days and we have to fight hard...
i guess it takes loads of time to organise something like that though

Only thing Id like to see are a bit more resistance at events, we kinda slaughter everything in less than five minutes usually - I wouldnt mind losing either to a massive army of mobs and NPCs led by GMs...
Make it much harder I think to finish events because usually alot of peeps turn up and the fighting part (wich usually is the most interesting part to most) is over too quickly...
Just my opinion =)

What I'm itching for...
A complete butt-kicking.... just to have hundreds upon hundreds of kittin raid a city.... and stay there .... until dispelled in their entirety. Have them spread.... It'd be cool to lose an event here and there ... or at least have the possibility of losing. It'd be motivation to attend events...
What if we lost Zora? No acess to the Guils halls... apartments.... or you'd have to invul in... and TP out.... everytime. Have the noobs end up in Jen-Lai. Something like that'd be cool. No warning on the forums... kittin don't post. Just WHAM! bye bye main city and hello 30 kirokya (270 boss kirosta) .... only... it doesn't drop mats. Cause then you have people harvesting the mobs stead of fighting to win. Something that lasts a long while... that actually brings people together for a real goal.
Just my few cents,

Yup, brithlem... sounds like a very neat way to make players leave the game for sure. I hope you were exagerurating.
But I do agree in it would be nice to have events lasting over several days (again) in a specific area (lets put them in an area that keeps getting harvested to sillyness).

But yes, strength challenge nowadays means nothing to most of us.

Well put Razz, and my sentiments exactly - a harsh event is all well and good for those looking forward to it, but there are bound to be players who see it all as confusion and a pointless excercise.
I agree getting a good whupping would make for a genuinely different event - however something happening so suddenly would upset many a player.
Try and relate it to real life a little - yes, I know this isn't real life, but that doesn't stop RL interfering with people's opinions and judgement.
Time plays a big part in people's disappointment - you need enough time/chance/luck to win a situation within the time everyone has to play. If you don't have enough time, things get out of hand, players get upset and don't play, and the situation has to be ended 'artificially' by the CSRs/Guides. The fact that it was artificially ended then breeds more resentment from the people who wanted a good whupping
I agree with point of the thread, but I think this kind of thing needs proper planning, and discussion on the forums. That kills the surprise for some, but is that really such a bad thing?

Sort of groupmissions that are about using mind ? Sounds nice. Should not to hard to implement. Would be fun if we could find fragments of ancient amberqubes or such.raynes wrote: After the event last night I am begging the people at Nevrax and the event people to do something like that. A little i miss exploration of ruins. Where a group is needed to activate something. Like 5 ppl who have to step every on a stone to give a fragment free. Should also be implementable. Ruins could be instanced.
Maybe we find buried entrances to underground when we build outposts and i ponder allready whats in the deep walled holes in the zorai cities
The other thing i miss a little is that kittins and tribes do not react when getting attacked. If someone is killing Kincherkan it should be that a group of kinch is striking back to Fountain for revenge. This should be cause the history says that kitin are not brainless but well organized.

Re: Please have some events that don't have a time...
along the same line as brithlem's, you dont have to have the kitins invade a major town, just have kitins camp and surround PR spawns and tp's, that requires a group to go clear them out. Have them gradually take over all the tp's, both Kami and Karavan, starting with the one in PR, if no one do anything about them.
I also like rayne's idea of "MIT scavenger hunt". Maybe make it part of the SoR universe by having "community" amber cubes, as in each is unique and only provide part of a bigger cube.

i like the town invasion idea.. infact i wrote a long and probably sleep inducing essay about it which was sent to the poor, unsuspecting CSR team last week -)
it doesnt need to be a capital (although personally still i like that idea), Jen-La for example is the most deserted town atm, ripe for plundering by the kitin
