Hard to give an exact number. As you reach high levels you eventually receive no xp for doing simple things. A 70th level fighter will get no xp for killing a suckling yubo. That having been said, I don't know exactly where the cutoff is. I would guess that progress would start to become painfully slow somewhere in the 50's.

As for max quality you can harvest, I never found better than choice myself. There could be some excellent hiding somewhere, but if so I've never heard of anyone finding it.

I made it to lvl 78 in harvesting on the newbie island at 168xp or so a dig in the end. Ql 20 is the maximum ql you can get and there' s none higher grade than choice around. Well, as far as I know, but I doubt there is.

Back when I was on noob island (Zorai), quite a few people stayed until at least mid 40's in at least one tree. That was also imediately after release in NA, so we were very patient about getting to the mainland.

I myself stayed until I hit 50 in harvest, and while there were no *crafting* nodes that went above choice and q20, mission mat nodes went up to q50. I spent my last 10 levels on those. :D

Come on down !

Honestly though there is no reason to stay on newbie island if you are capable of surviving on the mainland. A lot of new players get intimidated about leaving their safe haven on the island and interacting with experienced players, but dont be. I left the island with my highest skill being 20 melee, which was adequate for me to get along on the mainland if not being able to explore much. If you leave early you just need to know your limitations and target easier mobs to level. So come to the mainland as soon as you feel ready and join the real party.

yea, all you who stayed on newb island till lv 50+ is insane. That would take so much time. Specially for the foraging. I left to the mainland once i hit lvl 20 melee and magic. I had dig up about 15 or so and craft was barely much. Honestly I wish I jumped over earlier. It is so much more active and easier to get challenged ;P

I'm with Caitiff - I wished I had gone over to the mainland right away.

I totally disagree. If you're on your third or fourth character and really know your way around then sure, pop over as soon as you like. If you're on your first character and you're new to the game then stick to the newbie isle until you get a feel for how things work. I've seen too many post from people who rushed to the mainland and then quit the game in frustration because things were too tough. I'm not saying you need to stay till you're level 50, that's just silly. But do stay until you've mastered the basics, and reached a respectible level in a couple of trees.

I think 20 in a fight skill is enough to port over.

I waited till 25 and ported over with a group that I had trained on the island with so we immediately grouped on the mainland and explored together. Was a ton of fun :)

I'm the only one left in that group of 4 though :(
