Below is the general outline I use for running events. Its not complicated and its served me through running many events. This may sound like common sense to some, but it may not be to others.
Hope it helps
Forum Posts
Taster Post
Made approx 1 to 1.5 weeks before the event
Include time and date along with taster idea of what the event is
Depending on event, also include location
Info Post
Made approx 1-2 days prior to event
Include:
Full Info about the event
Explain all rules the event has
Reiterate Date and Time
Location
Event
Be at location at least 15-20 min early
Start Time
Wait no longer than 10-15 minutes after the designated start time.
Reiterate rules if there are any. Designate 1 person to handle questions.
(although this will likely have been fleshed out on the forums)
Start Event
Follow the stages of your event as cleanly as possible.
End
If competition announce the winner
Be clear that the event is over and thank players.
Hope it helps
