Question for David Cohen Corval

Dear David,
Thank you very much for you two letters/statements.
Althought I am from Australia and play on EE not NA, I will miss all the American staff - as i frequently read the NA forum and enjoyed & appreciated their contribution.
I totally agree with everything you wrote, and look forward to these changes.
I do however have a question (followed by reasoning/background)
Making the assumption the changes proposed will allow SoR to break even at least, and making the assumption no players leave and no players start - how long aprox can SoR stay opperational?
I ask this for the following reasons:
I, like many others work full time (60-80 hours/week), I have major Partner,Family & Friends commitments, as well as huge education/training investments. I love the game to bits, and play wayyyyyyy to much considering the above, Money is NOT a problem happy to confirm 12 month subscription just to help game stay afloat.
My problem is however that time is not in my favour - and since i am low/med level and really getting into the game now, i would hate to get kicked just before i made MY goals (not lvl 250

).
So if you could answer that it would be great - I am not going to cancel my sub, but it means I can prioritise my life better and not spend 4-6 hours a night (i dont have that time) playing something which will be ripped away from me before i reach my satisfaction finish line
Happy to pay sub and play 4-8 hours a week just for fun!!!
Cheers
Gleno - DCA

I have a similar worry and fairly simular situation and would also like an answer to this question.
However, If SoR did go under - I'd consider buying it from Nevrax and keeping it alive.

Thats a question we would all like to know the answer to but there is no way on the planet anyone at Nexrax would answer it here, let alone any time soon.
If Nevrax can keep some sort of development Schedule running on whatever funds they have, then there is a good chance that SoR will continue to run, you can't expect a
NEW Game company with a
NEW game to become an instant sucess, it cannot happen because there is no History, before SoR was released Nevrax had no history & no following.
Small steps are important, If its done right, if the company can remain focused and funded to the point where their ideas/expectations/promises can be fulfilled then there is no reason why Nevrax can't build themselves up as a reputable company and increase their userbase by this alone.

Something like "Rubies of Eventide" ? combined with the structure of an open OS ?
(democratic commitment of patches) Sounds very nice and is more grind then we ever have done
Having some experience in 3D GFX (Strata, Lightwave) i can tell you that it is endless painfull to create the models. Even more painfull are the scelleton animations.
No, not unless Nevrax is throwing the towel...

Absolutely no chance of having this answered

The question basically amounts to this:
At which point will your company fail, go completely under, lose all of it's staff, and cancel your 'dream game' altogether?
I appreciate you'd like to know how long it will survive, but that equates exactly to asking when it will die. Can't see it really

I really like Nevrax and Ryzom.
Nevrax: They realise Nel under GPL. They have "open source"/"free software" spirit. Other companies like Blizzard put some open source developers in court becouse of "intelectual property" (like those ppl who made open and beter version of batlenet services).
Ryzom: No other MMOG (yeah, RP is missing) hook me so much. I have tried/beta tested several (WoW, EVE, Wish and some others), but no competition with Ryzom. I love this friendly and helping community.
If i need to change my subscription from 6 months to one year i will. If they need help with porting Ryzom client from Windows to GNU/Linux, i will help. Even I develop embedded software in RL, i'm sure i can be of some help. They already mention this posibility:

Hi gleno, not trolling
BUT, does anyone here really expect they answer that question? That would be the worst move ever, as a more "ignorant" (no offense ofc) but bigger playerbase is definetly better than a small "enlightened" one, specially when its game/company survival we are talking about here. I for one have never heard of a case where "un - needed" information was revealed, at least at business lvl. Ofc that we all like to know where we stand, but imagine they say they got 3 months payroll on the bank, how many of you would stick around?

Thanks everyone for their responses!
Expect a response - NO
Want a response - YES
But more importantly, the users adding to this thread is a good way to let Nevrax know how we feel.

as someone who has played for quite a while along with my other half i do really love this game and would be so upset if it finished again i would be willing to pay a year up front if it ment keeping it going.
I dont post that much as you can see but again i do enjoy playing.
I know this is not a question but it is on the same theme which is the future of Ryzom
Matis rule ok
Lezel and Badh
