Ahh thanks for the dates, I was wondering when E3 was after reading that something was being released by Nevrax there (in the David Cohen letter). Does anyone know if its 'just' the Outposts being released or is there something else in the pipeline? Dont ruin my day by giving away secrets though.
Thanks

It's not outposts. In his letter he stated that there will be no chapter 4, but instead something bigger. Outposts are chapter 3.

I have a feeling, from what they have said, that it will be the character ageing and breeding system that will be announced. But that is speculation on something that attracted me to this system from the start. Something that other such games just don't have.

To be clear DCC has said that it is an announcement that will be released later in the year.

I dont think so, they said it would be too hard to implement atm, I think this will be a new race with new land and roots as well as taming, alchemy and cosmetics skill tree and maybe the raise of lvl cap to 500

My reasoning behind my post was due to this following comment by Xavier...
Xavier Antonique wrote:after the chapter III, there won't be the chapter IV, but an extension - even if it will be quite an usual one if you compare it to other MMORPGs...
and this by David Cohen Corval...
David Cohen Corval wrote:...it is designed to give you never seen means to impact both the game world and the game story.
Now, I take it that the words "an usual" was meant to be "an unusual", otherwise the sentence doesn't make sense. If it was the type of extension that happens in many MMORPGs (such as extra races, new lands, etc) the you wouldn't "compare" it with them as there would be very little difference. So it'll be something a little bit different than the norm.
Xavier Antonique wrote:It will be targetted at bringing more freedom to you, so you can better influence the world of Ryzom. Hum, you have already heard that somewhere, right ? In fact, this is no surprise, since what will come next is the missing piece of what we intended to provide you from the start - it just required the game to be at a certain stage of maturity.
This is possibly the most interesting thing I have heard in some time. A few regulars have been complaining about our lack of ability to affect the game world. More freedom, more influence, happy days ahead.
Now, just from this I could envisage the game being set as one side against the other. The annihilation or at least dominance of one side over the other on Atys could easily be seen as influencing the world of Ryzom. But I've got high hopes (high-apple pie in the sky-hopes) and so I'll keep dreaming.
Also, something Aeion Lyan said over the weekend troubled Sanz.
As you must care for the seeds of life to prevent their fall to Atys; keep watch on the stars lest they fall from the firmament. Be united and care for each other, since a greater threat to the Homin races may loom overhead.
Now, maybe it's just me but this seems like a dire warning. Maybe we can expect another side to emerge. Maybe we won't be taking sides against Kami or Karavan but instead against a 3rd aggressor. One from beyond out heavens...

Nice riddle...
- unusual compared to other MMORPG
- never seen means to impact world and strory
- more freedom to influence the world
Freedom - what can Atysians not change ?
- we can not move or install TPs
- we have no influence on position of homin and mob spawns
- we can not cause kittins to attack or invade by doing anything "wrong" (correct me if i am wrong)
I can think of somehting that actions of players (eg. killing a boss) can cause kittins to attack a city, a NPC outpost or an outpost. Or erasing a spawn moves the spawnpoint to another position.
I can imagine that certain player action can have influence or even fully activate the kitin part of the RAID engine. This fact is something that needs "a certain stage of maturity" and is "quite unusual compared to other MMORPG" and it is something that was there from the start but didnt come often to action.

When I read the initial note I had only one thought (possibly because its something myself and a friend had been discussing possible implementations of the day before..): User definable craft items.
Think about it, what other game out there currently allows you to define a set of attributes for an item (possibly upload a graphic for it if you can model), then create it in game?
We figured you could create a stanza block type arrangement based on character crafting level that gave 'x' points to spend on a weapon then the player could assign those points via sliders to certain weapon characteristics.
Uploading a model with it would be nice but would be slower for implementation (you would want to vett each model, then accumulate them for inclusion in the weekly patch). The real downside being that only a few players would have the skills needed to create new models, the vast majority would simply just get old models with some cool stats.
Right, now I've given my idea away lets see it implemented please!
