Xavier - You do not put the full patch on the ATS!

* Why do you put patch parts on to the ATS and not just the entire patch? How do you expect the testers to catch the bugs if the stuff you put there is not as it will be on the live server?

We put the entire patch on the ATS.

Either that is a flat out lie or you are completly in the dark concerning what goes on the test server. You do not put the full patches on the test server. If you did put full patches on the test server the encylopedia bug would of never happened. You put a rite or two. You put the mounts but nothing else. There has never been a patch on the ATS that has all of the features and functionality of the live version. Not once.

I think he mentioned somewhere that the stuff they put on the ATS altough complete patch, might have alot of stuff disabled or turned off do to what ever reason.

So there is the catch 22, they probably do put full patch in, but pre-testing before ATS showed that only 10% of the entire patch should be 'turned on'

*added after eatting a bit for a change, amazing what a little blood sugar will do to you *wink* **
(start of added)
I can NOT see how the FULL patch is on the ATS, there are MANY features, bug fixes, gramar corrections and on and on that I do NOT see on ATS that go live. There are also MANY bugs, glitches, hiccups and errors that go live that were NOT in the ATS version.

If you are true in saying that the FULL UN deactivated patch is EVER on the ATS...How can it be that I never SAW the new materials, bug fixes, errors and other changes on the ATS...but I saw them on live. Same player/tester, same passtimes in game, SAME goals and thought patterns.

I just don't see it, X, sorry man, but it smells wrong to me.

(end of added)

What is the point of testing something if NOT to see if it works? And if you have anything disabled...then we can't test it, and when it is broken in live...that makes the ATSers look bad. Or maybe it does, since surely people understand the ATS isn't getting anything of serious merit.

reading comprehension... he said the full patch was on the ats, but he also said due to the test nature some features aren't activated yet

And what is the POINT of not putting it UNdeactivated, in other words, putting the FULL patch without messing with it, as it will work in the live servers? If you don't test ALL of it, you aren't FULLY testing it, and in my opinion, if I am not testing the REAL patch, uneditted, then it isn't worth the time. SOMETHING that is turned off could have a bug, glitch, error, cause a crash or something, and if it was IN the test...a tester could catch it.

To me the redacted materials on the test server is just more of the EQ esque nature of the developing relationship between the players or testers and the devs. It is turning into an US(devs) against THEM (players/testers). Been there, done that, framed that Tshirt. After almost five years in EQ, I can smell that tone come from a mile away.

I am not a threat to the devs, I am still a paying player, and I STILL wish the game would wake up and turn in the right direction. But, like the wife of an alcoholic/drug addict, I have to realize when it is time to walk away.

They put the patch on the ATS.
They add more stuff while it is being tested by inhouse ppl concurrently.
The stuff that gets added might have bugs.

Did you leave yet?

Yes, I agree complely. The described patch process project plan did not show repeated patching of the ATS if there we bugg fixes applied in testing.

I imagine this is dependent on the severity or expected impact of the fix.

I have been trying to get on the ATS for about a month now, no luck. So I understand. I wish I could help it be a better overall product. However to fulfill that, i have taken to Community Development and Event Planning.
