Timeouts with 'please wait' (Possible Router Issue)

Morning,

Has anyone had any experience with this router, and Ryzom? I ask because, although I'm forwarding the ports, my connection to Ryzom appears to die sporadically while playing. This's must infuriating.

Firmware updates are awkward to determine with my brand of router (Linksys BEFSR41 v2), but I am using a known stable build, no software firewall (or I have at least, disabled the windows version). I haven't, though, forwarded the ports under uPNP but I must say that I had this problem even before manually forwarding the ports.

Any clues, ideas, or suggestions, I'm open to.

Still experiencing this problem, noticed on another PC when it goes 'disconnected' on ryzom, IRC disconnects, and msn messenger disconnected.

I'm still quite confused. I've tried a number of firmware versions now, too.

Does your router show internal and external traffic on it?
If it does, you can see if it is a router problem; if all traffic between external and internal stops.

Otherwise see if you can ping the router, or another IP on the internal net, when you lose connection to the net, and then an external IP.

Additional, see if the router have a log feature. Should help to show any problems too.
Some routers can forward the log to a computer too...

I have two other PCs on the network, the internet connection continues to work on those PCs, MSN and IRC only 'cuts out' when Ryzom's running and it goes 'please wait' in this fashion.

Update: was just playing, had the connection status window open. Ryzom goes 'please wait' on me with 'FS Lost' on the connection status, I was also idling in 'klients' and it goes 'unknown error'. All other PCs on the network were fine, inc MSN and IRC.

Would be a good idea to check you cable, netcard, drivers etc. on that one computer.
Possible move the connection on the router, or switch cards (remember to touch the inside of the case before touching any electronics inside (switch off PSU too)).

Have you tried without forwarding the ports ? Ryzom works perfect with NAT.

Antoher thing is: What is your connection to WAN ? Is it some kind of DSL ?
If it is, have you played around with the MTU ? (pc side and/or on router)

It's only Ryzom that has issues, and only issues arise when playing Ryzom. So I would assume my hardware is fine.

I have tried without forwarding the ports. I'm connected to NTLWorld's 1mbps cable modem service, I've played around with MTU in the past, and tried resetting to defaults. Any settings you can recommend would be appreciated, though.

[Update (Because logs are fun):]

Not me *pets the trusty Cisco hardware* :D

Stanto: Not clear if you got MTU back to defaults, checked with manual/site ?
