comprehensive materials database

I have been searching the web and the Ryzom sites I know of, looking for a database that gives all the data on the various different mats. So far, while there are some very good ones out there (e.g. the one that Ballistic Mystix put up), they all seem to be missing key data points. For example, the color of the mat or (and this is a biggie for me, being a jewelcrafter) what type of magic protection a jewel will yield, if any.
So... does anyone know of any mat database, in any language (I'll put it through babelfish if need be), that includes all of these tasty tidbits? If so,
puh-lease let me know...
If not... well then I'll be looking for help in gathering the data to build one

http://ryzom.raum.com has color information(though not totally complete). i usually use it in tandem with BM's site. BM has a great mob/mat/qual database that works well with raum's item to mat browser list.
Magic protection I have no idea.

The ballisticmystix.com database does have the material colors. However, I forgot all about the protections until you brought it up. When I designed the database, I did add a place to specify the protections but never followed through with entering and displaying that data.
I will certainly add this to our site (probably this coming weekend). Thanks for bringing it up.
P.S. Thanks to the outstanding contributions of The Silver Watch guild, our material database is very close to completion (with the exception of boss mats). This past weekend, they provided us with almost every material from our missing list and even some we didn't know we were missing.

My friend just pointed out to me why it might not be apparent that the colors are on the BM website.
It's because, by default, I filter out the different ecosystems (lake, desert, etc.) from the list. In other words, rather than showing "Choice Lake Hash Amber" and "Choice Prime Roots Hash Amber" in the list, I only show "Choice Hash Amber". This is mainly to keep the list shorter since the ecosystem doesn't affect the stats.
The problem is, the color is dependent on ecosystem so if you're viewing this collapsed view, I don't show the color column. You can always see the color by clicking on the mat to see the detail page for that mat.
You can turn off this filter by clicking on the "Resource Filters" option at the top of the menu. Incidentally, you can also filter out different grades and/or ecosystems. Like if you are a forest crafter and want to see what the best mats are that are either Fine or Choice, you can do that with these filters.

Can I just say one thing about the Ballistic Mystix website? WOW! You've done a fabulous job - it's beautiful, accessible, thorough, customizable, comprehensive & comprehensible. Being a long-time amateur website geek, I know how hard it is to make a high-content site organized & understandable - mucho kudos. (Okay, so that was several things.

)
My own guild, Melinoe, has a lot of other wonderful guides, maps, mob & npc listings, etc, and Doubletap's put extraordinary effort into obtaining & organizing it (tho it's not quite so pretty

)
It's wonderful to see so many working so hard to share their adventure & knowledge with the wider Ryzom community!

Actually, the only time I've seen a color change from ecosystems is the difference of PR mats versus Topside. I know for a fact that Tama wood for example, is blue in both the jungle, and the desert. Moon Resin is red.. etc. Unless I'm way off base, it's safe to assume its the same color in Tryker and Matis as well. Another good rule of thumb I've found that makes searching out PR mats of either black or white, is if its blue up top, its black in the PR, and red = white. (choice or better was used as examples and what helps with pr/topside differences.. basic and fine are the odd colors (turq, biege, etc), but still fairly predictable once you get your hands on some)
For at least some of the amber protections, Zun is Acid, Pha is Cold, Beng is Fear, and Sha is Rot.. Can't give you more than that atm, since those are all I currently have on me right now.
Just don't forget that protections don't apply unless the amber/eye is choice or better.

That will be incredibly indescribably outstanding, thank you thank you

With that implemented, and with the new insight into how to make proper use of what you have there already, your site is sure to be an uber-resource for me. Kudos again on a splenidferous job

You're mostly right my friend, as always... All eco-systems will have the same color/stats for "qual_mat" except for PR will have a color change of either black or white IIRC. Had the original author spent much time looking they'd would surely not have called your site lacking...

Yeah, I knew this was the case it's just "dependent on the ecosystem" was easier to type than the full explanation
I suppose i could collapse the 4 racial ecosystem and show that and prime roots separately, however, that's possible through the filters already.
My next task is to make the filters part of your account so they're saved across browser sessions.
