Quick Fix for Harvester's Selection Issues :)

Allo Everyone!

For those of you that know me, I do nothing but dig.

I recently had my "Front Enemy Selection" set up for tab - some of you may have used a different hotkey, but this is mine, so replace "Tab" with whatever you used.

This is a quick way to fix the selection issue:

Make a macro for the selection.

To access the macros, press Shift + K on your keyboard.
Click on "New Macro" on the Macro bar.
You can click on the Icon button to change the color and name.
Back on the New Macro screen you can enter a name for the Maco - I put in "Select Mats" as an example.
Click on the "Add Command" button toward the lower right of the New Macro window.
From the "Category" section, click on the drop-down menu and select "Actions".
From the "Action" drop down menu, select "Target an entity" (you may have to scroll up on the menu to see this option).
**Now, you may either make this macro for all your sources, or you make make it for every single mat type.
I strongly suggest making one macro for *all* of your mats, so you only have to worry about one hotkey.
In order to do so, you'll need to remove your "Prospect with Knowledge" from your prospecting skill. (Thank you to Basic for this info).
Now, when you've done this, you need to make the macro for all sources.
You'll put in the target name in the field on the "New Command" window where it says "Entity's name to Target".

For example, I have: "Raw Material Source [Enfinity]"

This will ensure that all of my sources are selected with this macro, and *only* mine are selected, since I added my name.

Once you've done this, click OK.
Now, you can either click Ok again on the "New Macro" window, or you may assign this to a key.
I prefer the key.
Under the section that says "Key" on the "New Macro" window, click on the area that says "Not Assigned".
Here you may assign any key you like to execute this macro.
For example, I have mine set up for "Tab".
Once you've done so, click on OK.

You're all set :)
When you hit "Tab" or your assigned key now, it will select your raw material sources.

If you have any questions, please feel free to send me a /tell in game.
I'm more than willing to help in any way that I possibly can!

Thanks for the ideas. That's certainly a clever workaround to the problem.

But it sounds like you have 2 choices:

1) don't use prospecting with knowledge and have 1 macro to select sources.
2) use prospecting with knowledge and have loads of macros to manage.

I really like using knowledge as I really don't want to have to test the node to see what it is. Even when you know exactly where the resource is, you still pop up other resources quite a bit due to the overlapping nature of the fields.

Ultimately, I hope they add the ability to target sources with a separate key (maybe alt+space).

This is true, and I understand your point.

However, I only posted this for a quick-fix for those of us who "need" a short cut key for this purpose :) I'm not suggesting you keep it this way, just something to help out a bit.

I know the devs are aware of this issue and I've spoken to a GM about it already.

I hope this fix works for some at least temporarily.
It's helped me out personally quite a bit.

Be well!

The targeting problem led me to come up with an additional element to your macro solution... in addition to using the same means to target the source, I add "run shortcut 20" (my basic harvest action) to the macro. So... one keystroke & I target a source and go running towards it to dig.

Also... you could use this solution while prospecting with knowledge, if you typically wanted one mat type at any given time. It would only take a few seconds to bring up your macro, and edit for the type of mat you're looking for (e.g. "Amber [Keoni]")... re-edit as required, when you need another mat type.

I'm sure many folks have been using this method for a long time, but I haven't bothered to learn much about macro's until this little glitch forced me to :)

Hope this is helpful to someone somewhere...

Hey sweetie :)

Danke for the additional info :)
*hugz*

I sure hope some have found all of this information useful and helpful.
Until now I've been pleased with the key assignments, in a way I'm kinda glad this happened.
I'm now more aware of the macros and the many things that can be accomplished by using them.
So at least some knowledge was gained from this!

Sudden thought - re: the editing of macro to reflect knowledge - you'll only run towards what you want when several different things pop at the same time.

p.s. the "target team member #" action is also very useful, especially for healing.
